Building a Home Windows Design Dilemma

To paint or not to paint the window returns in a warm onyx color?

We are building a new modern house with windows toward an amazing view and with all natural desert surroundings. We have high ceilings and the windows are set on the wall about 10 inches deep. We are planning to not put any trim around the windows to keep it minimalist. Because of the light shining on the window-returns at some times of the day we are thinking about painting the returns of the windows in a warm onyx color to eliminate the light shining so we can appreciate the view better. This color is also used for the tall posts in our patio, we can see them from the other window wall. Is it painting the window returns a good idea?

I need pics .I did all dark gray walls and window trim in this kitchen to enhance the view so I can see where you are going

Thank you Patricia! I love your kitchen. Our house is in the phase of electrical installations, but as we are approaching the hanging of the drywall we are also thinking about windows and therefore their finishing. I am glad I asked for advice with my design dilemma!

Have you looked at BM Ivory White? After weeks of mental turmoil between Linen White and Ivory White, I picked the Ivory White(still have my fingers crossed) for the kitchen cabs to go with my Colonial Gold granite. The walls in the family room and the little bit of walls in the kitchen will be BM Splendor. The Linen White seemed to be a little pinkish to me. The Ivory White wasnt in a paint deck but behind the counter at the BM store. Number 925-Classic Colors. Picking paint colors is tough!

Cooler paint color with warm granite?

I want to give my kitchen a little refresh - new paint, window treatments, and rug. I’ve been thinking of SW Sea Salt, but just not sure. The granite is veneziano dorado - lots of copper and some burgundy inclusions. The current wall color is a light terracotta color. I’m not interested in painting the cabinets, or changing the granite or backsplash (although I saw a gorgeous Cambria that includes my favorite color aqua). The floor is a lightly stained maple.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts...really do appreciate it. I am going to get samples of the lighter warm colors you all mentioned. Marlene...I think you are right,...maybe I should be looking 65-70 LRV range. My only concern about going lighter is that I don't want anything leaning yellow and not to look washed out when the room does get some natural light in the afternoon from the kitchen. Cecelia I will check out the off whites you mentioned as well.
