Not only did you manage to carry out the butchering, you have presented the emotional and moral issues very well. I particularly liked this passage: "...definitely more committed to our livestock, and strangely, so much more intimately connected to life and this earth... much more deeply than our city counterparts- who recoil in horror, and to whom we have difficulty explaining." The distancing of people from their food sources and the amount of denial that goes on among many people who get all their food from the supermarket is appalling. So much of today's supermarket food is overpackaged, overprocessed and downright disguised, to the point where it is impossible to see what the raw ingredients are. It allows people to conveniently "forget" that all food comes from animals or plants and to raise their children in profound ignorance of what food really is. I guess turning a blind eye is the only way that they can handle contributing to the horrors of factory farming. Sorry, I didn't mean this to turn into a rant. I mainly wanted to say that you did really, really well!...See MoreJust planted our 1st Japanese Maple.... advice?
Comments (2)Always when planting trees, shrubs and other long-term subjects you want the same soil throughout the potential rooting area - no amended holes, pockets, strips or other small areas. If the mix you mentioned is that whole be area then that should be okay - unless the organic component is too high, as the dark appearance might be taken to indicate. Next you should mulch with wood chips or other coarse material around the new tree....See More1st Home - "Snout House" - Help with Curb Appeal?
Comments (14)This style is very common in my neighborhood, in a 2 storey version. The nicest ones treat the area beside the garage as a courtyard. Landscaping can accomplish this, and some have a wall across too. The entrance to the courtyard from the driveway is also pulled away from the house, so it feels very spacious, not cramped. Some have a patio area in front, one has a really nice fountain. I'll draw something to give you an idea. You already have a tree that sort of defines the area. Comments (6)Thanks, @Louise Smith. I was basing it off of this information from Nerdwallet.com about the refinance options via the Standard 203(k): Standard 203(k) Covers structural improvements (room additions, replacing faulty plumbing or electrical systems, etc.). Has no price cap, but projects must total $5,000 or more to be eligible. Requires project completion within six months of closing. Limits work to a single general contractor, who must hire and pay subcontractors. Requires inspections on all work regardless of cost. Nerd note: The FHA has set mortgage limits for borrowers based on median sale prices for a given area. Check the current FHA loan limits to determine the maximum amount you might qualify for in your area....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
