Onyx surface for bath -- light/white colors; matte vs glossy

Home owners and (especially) bathroom contractors, have you had any experience with white Onyx in matte and is that for shower walls, pan, or vanity counters? We're contemplating white matte onyx for shower walls and pan, plus vanity counters/sink in a fairly modern bath remodel (fully floating vanity and linen cabinets, etc).

The glossy Onyx looks a little cheesy/downmarket to my eye, but I'm concerned about matte's durability and even that of the glossy if we went with that. Our existing cultured marble counters (they are somewhere between matte and glossy finish) have some scuffing/scratching visible. I'm also concerned about yellowing or other discoloration. I know Onyx has a "lifetime guarantee", but I really doubt they are going to do a turnkey replacement, including handling a large frameless glass shower, etc.

Thanks for any input!
