Cabinet paint BM Graystone Or White with MSI Calacatta Laza
Hi,
What started out as a small project of stripping my master bath wallpaper has turned into a massive project. Slowly but, surely projects added up and now decided to paint the whole house and replace countertops and backsplash.
The countertop I picked is MSI Calacatta Laza. I have warm travertine floors and Maple
cabinets that I want to paint either White(BM which White) or BM Graystone. Looking at Wow fez tiles in white for the backsplash.
Below is a picture of a Graystone board with a small piece of Calacatta laza and the backsplash tile(4 tiles each a slightly different shade of white.
The light in my house is very warm and I want to decide between White(which white) vs Graystone for cabinet paint and would appreciate help. My trim will be painted Super white.

trim: Super white
ceiling: Swiss coffee
walls: Classic Gray
cabinets: Graystone or White(which white?)

Comments (7)Hi, the ideal solution would be to have a professional color consultant scan your chosen slab at MSI, if it has been purchased. The readings will tell him/her what white paint colors might work with that countertop. Are you in Dallas? Because that's where I am based. If one's existing trim color works with their kitchen materials, then I always continue it on the cabinets. However, as you mention, sometimes the countertop necessitates the use of a different white for the cabinet. Generally, materials with "calacatta" in the name will be a little warmer than those that are supposed to mimic carrara. However, every brand is different, and even one slab can vary from another. That's why it's best for a pro to look at your material, the sample if nothing else. I wouldn't start experimenting with random whites, until we know what it is scientifically that you might need. Would also want to know the backsplash color, and consider the wall color. How long till the counter will be installed? Could you delay the cabinet painting until then, and have them focus on painting other areas instead? Even so, it'd be useful to have someone look at everything for you. Comments (8)Hello! This one I did recently with a stone top nearly identical to yours. Just an idea to help get your started. (Honestly about anything goes with the Laza!) Probably the green walls are not for you (she loves green!), but the glass mosaic is stunning. Arizona Tile carries it. Once you choose the backsplash, paint will become much easier. Alternatively, use the same stone for the backsplash! Comments (45)Whoa, that’s horrible @Chritstine Hollern. I so sad and sorry to hear this. I wonder if there’s a company that can repair the chips. I had read negative comments on here about MSI, so that’s why I went with Hanstone. Also, our contractor has Montauk in his office/show room. So that’s what I went with but there was a lot of beautiful MSI colors and so many options. Maybe go back to the place you got the countertop from with pics? Comments (2)IMO wall color and backsplash are the last 2 things to choose in a kitchen so stop choose the cabinets first make sure all the lighting is LED 4000K and ideally then you choose the counter but since you already have the counter chosen now pick the cabinet color and thats it IMO until the floor the counter and the cabinets are all in....See MoreShilpa Patel

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoWe will be gutting our kitchen and doing a complete remodel. I’m thinking about using calacatta Laza which is what we used in our hall bathroom remodel. I bought a sample of silver drop behr for the walls in my house and it’s almost a perfect match for the background in the Laza. At least in my lighting.
please Ignor the original 1960 countertop. The tile is my flooring. HD didn’t have a paint chip so I made one myself using the extra white chip.Sarah Hernandez

2 years agoLove the Laza. No issues whatsoever. We have it as our bar top, which is used a lot and we are certainly not careful. 😂 3 years installed and looks like new. I also have a different MSI in my bathrooms and no problems with that one either.

2 years agoI did choose the laza itll be installed on the 24th. Im going next week to see the layout before they cut it. i also went and picked out my slabs.
