Remodeling Design Dilemma Exterior

Ideas for improving curb appeal?

House is split level on a hill.

Need to repaint trim - but open to painting house. Thinking about adding windows to dormers on roof (no active second floor).. So paint house? If so, color suggestion? If not trim paint suggestion? Windows on dormers? New front door? Bathtub/shower and garage closet behind the two wooden "bump outs" on front of house so windows not an option there...

Any other suggestions welcome.

Yep, the windowless dormers are confusing...

I have never even seen dormers without windows. How strange. Add windows wherever you can.

I know this post is a few years old, and you have probably solved your porch problem...but it made my heart so sad that no one helped you. So I decided to put aside an hour and draw something out for you (just in case you still have no idea)... If you can do a wrap around that would be even better, but this would be a simple porch that could be added to your cute little home Without any major changes. You're house is so cute! Everything looks a bit lacking without landscaping. Some bushes and flowers, maybe a little tree out front, I think it will look very complete. Also, this house is just begging for a swing IMO, though I'm not sure where. Maybe on the porch. Once that's in, then you can decide if it's still lacking something. I also think a wood door would look really good.

That brick may be historical, but it isn't very attractive. paint it using something like Romabio. very little upkeep that way. That whole house would look so dramatic in a gray scheme. cannot wait to see the after.

It's been a long time. I have a photo of The Turfstore truck, so I imagine it was them. Just google that. I don't know what state you are in, but they do have competition. They were in Palm Desert at that time. If you aren't doing a putting green, then the whole process is different I'm sure. Good luck with your project. Oh, and watch out for Creeping Elegance!

"Thank you!" to lizziesma and houssaon for the affirmation on installing windows on the dormers. I'm going to get that done. Do either of you have a word on paint and/or trim?

I prefer to defer to folks with more color expertise. Quite often folks are advised to choose a color from their brick.

I actually like the trim and siding color you have now.

I like the siding color and I would use that for the trim, gutters etc.
