Does anyone know what you would call this type tray?
Comments (19)Thanks Allison! I hope that didn't come across snippy. What I meant was some of the best deals I find in antique shops are those little hole in the wall - stuff piled high and under stuff, etc. You can get some good deals. Not the upscale places. I do love vintage silver and of course you can find some pricey stuff. I also find a good bit on ebay (people sometimes really don't know what they have!) and etsy (vintage). I appreciate you keeping a lookout. I'm fine with silver plated, vintage/antique would be great if I can find it for a good deal, but a new piece would be fine also. dlm200 - I'm not in a hurry, that's part of the fun - the search, finding just the right thing. That tray is GORGEOUS! $4????!!!!! Allison I forgot to answer your question - I would use the tray as shown in the pic I posted - on a side table, perhaps a chest I have in my dining room, something like that. tina...See MoreDoes anyone know what this type cabinet door might be called?
Comments (10)My plans are a little up in the air, but we had to start because of a mold issue. I'm 100% sure I want to move the refrigerator and freezer to that wall, and will move the unit with the deep drawers to the other side. Most of the cabinets were built for the house mid 1980's and we had a couple of things added mid 1990's, but no doors made. We haven't been able to find anyone to make those doors. Dh & I have discussed pulling out the pantry at the far end and building one that goes to the ceiling. The way it is now, the pantry is about 5' tall and the cabinet above it set back about 10 inches. Just enough that I can't reach the doors or get anything out without a step ladder. We can reuse the lower doors but need to have upper doors built. I also want to add a spice pullout on that wall with the base cabinets, and I'm not sure whether to try to get a raised panel that small or just go with the same thing as the drawer fronts. That would be much easier, but I'm not sure how it would look. I'm going to either sand or strip the cabinets and stain darker. The finish is beginning to peel on doors with a lot of use. I'd really like to make it look a little more country, but I'm not sure those doors will go with that look. Here's a link to my photobucket album with the few pictures I have so far. Kitchen Remodel Samantha, I just did a search on Mediterranean kitchens and found a really great inspiration picture. It looks like Mediterranean and Tuscan are very similar. Christine, I'm kind of anal about symmetry also, but it's not the alternating panels that bother me about this, but that some of them are larger than others. It wouldn't be as noticeable if they were single panels. live wire oak, the countertop is the hardest part for me. I keep going back and forth on what I like and what is practical. That will be last and hopefully by then I can make a decision....See MoreDoes anyone know what type of finish the black wall is?
Comments (7)It looks like there are some kind of panels attached to the wall because of the seams. It's a coincidence as I was just thinking about our houses in the early 90's-mid-90s. Faux finishes were the "in" thing--at least in my suburban area. In the master bedroom I did a finish with a tool called a Woolie. It resulted in the something like your picture (different color though) without what seems to be some texture. I googled it. The tool is still sold. Look at the color mesh tool. They have a picture that is similar to yours in blacks/grays. Samples...See MoreDoes anyone know what type of wood this is?
