Let's see your Fothergillas!
Comments (10)Thank you for all of those great pictures! Very helpful, and I did end up buying Fothergilla Blue Shadow....the foliage color is stunning. My concern is that I'd read on a number of blogs that it gets to about 4' and that it's shorter than Mt Airy. I believe the tag said 4-5 feet also. Now, I'm reading 6', which is too tall for my bed. I like shrubs with the natural look and only trim out deadwood, etc, to keep them nice looking. Does anyone have a Fothergilla Blue Shadow that actually reached 6 feet? Wendy...my house is the same color, so it should look nice there! Tsugajunkie, that is a stunning picture! So happy to be in the "Fothergilla Club" now!...See MoreBlue Shadow Fothergilla turning green
Comments (8)every leaf on a transplant is a food making machine.. if you cut off half the plant.. you take away half its food making ability ... and thereby impact its ability to grow the root mass to get 'established ... its ridiculous ... w/o a picture.. to absolutely state they are root suckers ... and the link above.. does not show me anything relevant.. on a cursory review.. perhaps i missed it ... bottom line .. you can always cut them off later.. you cant staple and tape them back on ... lol ken...See Moredaylilies in the garden...
Comments (12)I bought two of those Fothergilla 'Blue Shadow' shrubs this year too, but they're in pots until I decide where to put them, and I would rather wait and plant them in the fall. Another one of many impulse buys where I just wanted to have it but really don't know where to put it. I think my favorite daylily on this post is 'Midnight Smoke Rings', though they are all really nice. It's a shame about the bud drop on 'Siloam Copper Kettle'. I have daylilies that do the same thing (Royal Celebration), and they don't have that many buds to begin with. I think on those that do that I may give them another year or two, and if the bud drop continues, I'm getting rid of them. What's the point of having a flower you only get to see less than a half dozen blooms? Karen...See MoreMust have list for 2017
Comments (35)Thats what I hear Jo!!... Jeff at LOTG said he will have Viking Ship in next year's line up, so I am pretty excited about adding it finally... Understandably so, it was unavailable everywhere I looked this year. Fame Game is bred out of WI and is touted to be fairly stable (as streakers go)... from Northern Grown Perennials. I am so lucky to be in prime hosta real estate and have such awesome growers around me. It broke my heart that Foxfire closed years back....See Morelovemycorgi z5b SE michigan
