Do you get irritating comments from NON-gardeners?
Comments (62)This may not be hardly on the same theme as annoying comments about your gardening skills, but I just need to vent. For the past several years, job, family and not a very good location kept me from doing much gardening. always in the back of my mind was... someday and somehow I am going to return to a property that I had owned for years, and have a garden. During that time, friends that knew my dreams would give me startings from their gardens and family and friends would give me a plant for special occasions. If I found a plant I liked on clearance I would buy it. Dh had been told many times that instead of a vase of roses, I would much rather have a rose plant. My yard basically became a "holding place" for my dream. A year ago things finally fell into place, for this to happen. But first things,first-- the house had to have major renavations, and my mother had a stroke and was hospitalized for 5 months before passing away. Needless to say my dream had to move down my list of proierities. Since we still own the property, we had just moved from, I thought my "treasures" would be safe until I could get a chance to move them. Imangine how I felt when people would come up to me and ask what I was going to do with all my flowers since I had moved away. One person remarked " you"e got flowers I have never seen before". Well, I am moving them to a new "Holding place", and will eventually get them into the right spot. If I had anything I didn't want to move, I would like the liberty of deciding what to do with it-- trade it-- gift it-- or even compost it. I"m not a selfish person, I love to divide--- but I want to know when I finally find the right spot for a special plant that it will still be there for me and that someone has just not helped themselves to it. Sorry for the rant-- I"ve waited 15 years, and I just don't want to be rushed now! Janet...See MoreJust something to irritate MOST of you P
Comments (64)Bruce, I seem to be in your wake weather wise so far this year. Had a decent day yesterday with some sun and a high of 57 but your rain started today. The forecast for the next 7+ days is cool/cold and rain, Thanks! Dave and seysonn, to quote a classic Jimmy Buffet lyric; "the weather is here, wish you were beautiful". Thanks for rubbing your temps in ;-)) To brighten up the weather misery talk, thought I'd share this shot. I use "Sticky Sticks" (basically super sticky fly paper on 6" posts) to keep fungus gnats in check. I had a few trays out on the deck yesterday to sort plants, didn't notice my pooch had taken an interest until he came by for a little help....See MoreAm I Overly Irritated?
Comments (21)I take a LOT of medication so the pharmacy I use is making a lot of money off of me. I have been fairly lucky. When I lived in the Dallas area I used the walmart market (not the big walmart just the grocery one) they were excellent. When we moved here I started with Kroger since it was where I shopped but they do not have a drive thru and for me that is important, they were also good but I eventually moved everything to the CVS right down the road a couple miles from my house. Well that has been an up and down situation. At first it was ok and I attributed some to then just getting used to all of my meds and the transfers etc. Then the place just went to horrible, the people working there were slow, unfriendly, and often got my prescriptions wrong. They would short me entire bottles on my 90 day scripts and it would be an argument every time I went. They would lose my actual prescription that my doctors faxed in and insist the doctor never sent it even though I had a screen capture of the actual order the nurse emailed to me. There was one older foreign man there that was about the rudest man I have ever run into working with people. We went to pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy counter and had about 5 other items in the basket. I put them all up on the counter and he went to get my prescriptions. He absolutely NEVER could find them so another person had to follow him around and do his job. There was not any other people in line just us. He rang up my prescriptions and ignored my other items. I said these are mine also as I pushed them closer. He said well now I have already done your prescriptions you need to take that stuff to the front register I am entirely too busy to deal with it. I looked around said are you kidding me? (I thought maybe this was his idea of a joke) NO HE was serious. He turned away and walked off to the back of the store. I took the stuff to the front and asked for the manager. I told him what had just happened and how it was a repeat performance each time we had to deal with that man. He asked me to please call the CVS headquarters listed on their website. He also told me they were trying to get that store "cleaned up". I did just that in fact each time I had these problems I called that 800 number and reported it. They were so nice and thanked me for letting them know. Fast forward a few months and guess what there is an entire new staff at the pharmacy!! And they are like night and day. Wonderful nice helpful people that actually call me by my name and call me at home to speak to me if they have a question rather than just waiting till I get there and they don't have my meds ready. It does pay to let the head office know what is happening in their stores. About the putting a prescription back. If you call in an order or they have filled an order for you and you have not been in to pick it up in their set number of days they will put the pills back and then you will have to order it again. AT CVS it is I think 5 days. I do not use the auto fill, or at least try not to, they keep doing it automatically on some meds with out asking. I don't like the auto fill, I prefer to keep track on my own since I have so many. And some of my meds I don't have to take daily so it can affect the normal refill time line....See MoreAn interesting (irritating) encounter
Comments (75)A couple years ago I was in line at the market. The woman in front of me was just buying a greeting card and was holding it in her hand. I started putting the items in my cart on the counter. The woman took her left arm and swept all my items off the counter onto the floor. She glared at me and said, "WAIT YOUR YURN!" Everyone kind of froze in place, then another employee came over to help me pick my items up. That made the woman more angry, but she paid for her card and left. There are some real nitwits out there....See Moremxk3 z5b_MI
