You all got the right answer. I've never heard of 'idiot' savant. That's a terrible name. My first thought was autism, is autism a type of savant syndrome?

No. A person with Autism could have Savant Syndrome (think 'The Good Doctor'). But not all Savants are Autistic.

In my psychology class, I was taught that idiot, moron, and imbecile were standard classifications of mental development, although these terms are no longer used by the medical profession. However they were still in use in the middle of the 20th century.
