Help me fix /decorate my my living room into Eclectic and yet cosy.
Comments (34)Don't move the credenza then. Get an area rug, center one group of seating around fireplace and conversation and then maybe get a tea cart or something and put a small chair or two around that near the doors/windows to the outside. You can sit and sip your tea and watch the birdies outside there in the winter! When the weather gets nice you can carry the chairs out to the deck to sit in the sun! Then roll the cart out there with some cocktails later in the day!...See MoreHelp me cozy up my living room
Comments (10)IMO Usually, a mirror is good only if it reflects something interesting. In this case, it does not. Much better choice might be a large plant or a large peice of art (the same size as the current mirror). A rug is welcome in this space. Pick a color for your pillows, art https://www.art.com/products/p22110758584-sa-i7605371/camille-pissarro-the-tow-path-at-bougival-1864.htm?upi=PL93ZD0&PODConfigID=8880734 (get the print and then get it framed locally), and rug https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Copper-Grove-Meghri-Area-Rug/26414929/product.html?kwds=&option=44376945&refccid=B7D6ITLIFAVYK7CN4TV42A4FTI&rfmt=color%3AGreen%7Crug%20size%3A10%27%20x%2014%27%7Cstyle%3ACasual&searchidx=11. I agree that this space suffers from an overload of beiges. Also, I'd like to make a comment about the lighting. In this type of room, a ceiling light is not the best. Much better is a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height. Please put the ceiling light on a dimmer, if you must use it....See MoreLiving Room not yet cozy and homely
Comments (23)"Sorry" to say, another rug could be better, for inviting feel. How large is you rug? could it fill the same area, about to the back wall? Idk if good in person, but I like that it's not a perfectly uniform gray, and might have wall color in it....See MoreMaking a living room cozy that has an odd layout
Comments (17)Wow, you are really motivated!!! I hear you about accumulating all the things needed to raise six children, and probably you want to keep some of those things for grandchildren who visit. Impressive feat to launch six children into the world! A few things to think about: those of us who own a home with a corner fireplace find decorating around them challenging. If you could build in a linear fireplace under your TV, that would combine the two focal points. I will include some photos. If you put doors on the lowers of your built-ins, it would reduce visual clutter. And if you painted your built-ins a dark color, it would also help everything on that wall blend in better. Also, if you could find two really large art pieces, 4’ x 6’ or larger, one for over your sofa where the gallery is, and one for the dining room where the blackboard is, it would dramatically improve the look. You could shop for canvas pieces on a website such as Great Big Canvas.com. Or you could do a textile wall hanging such as a Suzani. Maybe the gallery photos could be relocated to a hallway or bedroom....See MoreUser
