Variegated Monstera deliciosa
Comments (3)The purpose of the aerial roots is to grow down into the soil as the plant's stem gets a larger diameter and gets longer, to anchor the plant and allow it to climb. Cutting it would serve little purpose, especially if it has only the one leaf at present time. Those roots should grow pretty quickly down to the soil line and bury themselves, but, you can speed the process by doing what Mentha said, bury the stem farther in the pot. Your plant may have poor variegation for two reasons: either, again like Mentha said, it has never received enough light and needs more, or it may be a genetically weak example of the variegated Monstera. The variegation on these plants is variable. All have the gene for variegation, but whether it is well expressed in each specimen is another thing. If you give it more light and let it start to climb, so that the leaves will get larger as it goes up, you will give it the best chance to reach its full potential....See MoreVariegated Monstera deliciosa
Comments (4)There is a mixture of white and green variegated tissue in that Monstera. In your case they are pretty well segregated....you probably see a white strip on the stem on one side....the same sideyou are getting the variegation on. You will get the most consistent variegation on the plants that have the most marbling....where every leaf has a marbled mix of green and white. However, by nature this time of variegated chimera is "unstable".....the looks of each new leaf or new branch will depend on the mixture of white and green cells where the bud orginated. I started with a plant like yours. After it grew a bit I cut up the stem into nodes with one leaf for propagation. Each grew a new stem. Most were green but one originated from where the white and green came together...giving a little better variegation. I grew that one, tossed the rest and repeated. At that point I got one that came out from the green and white and had a better and more consistent mixture of green and white. I ahve bee growing the latter every since! I try to remove any branches that become too white and/or too green. BTW, this is a fun plant and one of my favorites!!...See MoreHow many hours of LED grow lights for variegated monstera?
Comments (22)It all depends on the conditions in which you keep it. The voltage of the lamp is also important. Usually it should be kept for about 11-12 hours. When I first started doing this, I often encountered various problems. I used weak lamps, which were not enough for the plants to germinate normally. After three months of useless work, my friend said that my lamps are absolutely not suitable for my plants. It was very difficult to find a good lamp, but he advised me to use nextlight mega . It turned out to be a great investment for me. Plants do much better. If someone encounters a similar problem, then I advise you to purchase it. Have a good harvest everyone :)...See MoreWhy is my Variegated Monstera floppy?
Comments (0)Hi there, I got a Variegated Monstera, and it’s seemingly doing fine got new leaves and root growth) but couldn’t help but notice the leaves are a bit floppy. I checked the soil and there’s seemingly no pests. I bought this plant as a cutting with one leaf, and i now got four leaves so presumably it’s quite happy?...See MoreVaishnavi Kathavi
