thanks for the antler link firsthouse_mp! Are you working on another project now? Can't wait to see photos of your new house! I discovered Jessica Martin at a gallery in SF about 6 years ago. I was helping decorate the offices of the company I worked for at the time in and they bought three of her pieces that hung in our SF office. One was very similar to the one you have. I have been yearning for one of her pieces for years, so my husband bought me one of her pieces for Christmas, but it's sitting in a closet right now because we're trying to figure out the best place for it. I need to get some furniture in this house so we can find a spot for it! The house does have ocean and city lights views. And the house also came with a peacock that lives in the yard. I wake up to him at our back door every morning. My dog is getting used to him being around. We have similar windows in the dressing room and master bath off our master bedroom in our MCM house. We have short pleated curtains for those windows. Although seeing your room in your profile pic, I don't think that'd work for you. Perhaps floor to ceiling for the entire wall might look best.

Such an unfortunate addition. The previous owners lost their minds. I’d try to match the roof angle of the addition to the rest of the house, but keep the roofing material consistent. Lots of glass like the doors you suggest would work, but think more glass than framing and wood, like a wall of windows. Switch out the deck railing to modern sleek horizontal railing. You might even clad the addition to match the dark wood on what look like they should be garage doors on the original structure. After all that, think outdoor lighting and landscape design. The house looks like it’s in a hole with no drive up or driveway (which is what makes it kind of look like the back of the house) and the cinder block pieces with lanterns on top don’t do justice to the original, very cool structure.

Waht a mess . I love MCM ranch style homes . I own one and they are IMO the perfect design for an exterior not to mention the great living space sizes. The drawing you show is that your architect now desgning this home ot the actual real original drawings? I like what is shown in those drawings IMO stop choosing anything until you figure out what is being done to hopefully bring the house back to what it should be and IMO that is not modern farmhouse .I need to have you tell us what you want from this house and how much money you want to spend. I do not agree it should be stucco . This is one of my faves for MCM landscaping and it also has the style of garge door and front door that woudl work for you. Please save for a bit to do this right. I do agree vertical siding but that gable has to go.If that is the LR on the left that window should be made larger. I live where we get tons of snow maybe every 5 yrs or so we need to shovel the roof but I would never change the roof style since it is such an itegral part of the house style.
