Kitchen/Dining Room Wall & Ceiling Color Help

Hello,

We have completely remodeled our kitchen and I'm struggling with what the wall color should be used for the kitchen and attached dining room. The new kitchen has BM Hale Navy color base cabinets and island, and BM Dove White upper cabinets. We are leaning toward a Calacatta Fantasy Quartz countertops. We haven't chosen the backsplash yet. The appliances are stainless steel and drawer pulls & faucet/pendant lighting will be brass. Our wood floors have been refinished with a 50/50 blend of Special Walnut & Golden Oak. I know that the BM Dove White is considered a warm white, and I read that the wall color should also be warm. We don't want anything bold. I have attached the design although the colors aren't correct.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

i'm guessing you're still under construction? no real pics?

Dove White or White dove? White Dove, really isn't a 'warm' creamy white. it's more of a dull white that leans on the warm side. I tried it on my walls and it was too dull looking.

Dove White is rather yellow looking on the wall, but overall rather dingy. have you looked at a sample of your cabinet door next to the countertop you want to use??

look at it next to simply white and cloud white. the latter two are still warm, but not dull and dingy.

I'd pick one of the other two for your cabinets, otherwise it's going to look rather yellow.

I repainted the walls w/Simply White (my kitchen cabs are the same)

This is what it looks like (with the lights on at night) Simply White is a neutral, warmer white.

my lights are actually a cooler led, but seem to photograph on the warm side.

Again, Simply White (or maybe one shade brighter)

have you had your painter give you some samples of the Hale Navy and the Dove White paint colors on a small wood sample piece? you should really do that before you commit

Keep in mind that the color will look different if it is sampled on a painted wall. You should be able to mix colors and have it color matched--although depending on the skill of the salesperson, the match may not be perfect. We have done colors at 50%--I think that also depends on the salesperson as to how they do it. For us, we had SW softer tan mixed at 50% and it was just lighter than the original shade. I had sooooo many paint samples up--I did large portions of the wall in the samples--but having the samples side by side and doing them on top of our existing yellow walls really affected how the color looked and made it hard to judge how the end result would look. I ended up picking my favorite and painting as much of the wall as the sample allowed to get the best idea of how it would look. The svelte sage and grassland were definitely way too gray in my house. If you do a search, there have been other posts on greens--I know it was helpful when I was trying pick a green. I think I even had a thread and someone suggested a nice Behr color or maybe a lowe's color--it didn't work in my space as I needed to coordinate it with a tan adjoining wall--but it was nice--I just can't remember the color.

beautiful kitchen! Since you don't get much sun, you might use a warm toasty/sunny/Tuscan kind of color, & experiment with "bright white" or full spectrum lights. If it makes the top of the island look too light, you can stain it a bit darker for emphasis & weight.

@BethH- yes we have the hardwood throughout the house but ceramic tile plank in the kitchen. Thanks for the advice...you think it's ok to paint both kitchen and dining room the same color? or would you go a shade or 2 darker in dining (that was advice I was given, but I am happy to have same color in both rooms if it looks ok..)...Re: the cabinets: it's been an issue between my husband and I- I would love to paint the cabs, he only likes cabinets that "look like real wood" (even if it is hideous;) We don't have budget for new or refacing cabinets at this time...so Im stuck with it for now...will continue to push for painting them though :)
