Wall Oven Cooling fan noise

Hello,

I have been researching new wall ovens to try and determine which ones have a quieter cooling fan, or if any actually do.

I was hoping i could get some help from other users who have purchased a wall oven in the last 5 years.

Could you download a sound meter app for your phone (assuming you have a smartphone) and measure the sound level with your oven on (regular bake, not convection) and also with it off? to be consistent please take the measurement from about 2ft infront of the oven and with your phone laying flat with the bottom edge where the microphone is facing towards the oven.

Please also post what oven you have.

No idea about the newly redesigned Wolf AG ranges, but one of our criteria after returning the poorly designed and poorly functioning Jade range, was one with a very quiet fan, and an on/off switch for said fan as well, was preferred. Our 2008 (?) Wolf AG has a pretty quiet fan, and we only switch it on for convection, or to facilitate cooling down on super hot days, or after lengthy/high temp oven use.

Chiming in here, since I'm looking for ovens and am considering Dacor, DCS, and Thermador in the 27". Everything is a tradeoff -- but I, too, want a quiet fan. My current exhaust fan on my upper oven OTR is a horror - it goes on by itself when I am using the upper oven and stays on forever. I only use that oven in emergencies, as a result. I have an old one-piece, 2 oven range that they don't make any more Thank goodness!

Unfortunately I'm located in a small town and there is no ability to listen to any oven. The dealers I talk to here think I'm crazy when I ask about the noise of the controls. Whatever I buy, before I have it installed I do plan on having it plugged in just in case I have to return it. I wish the manufacturers added a sound rating to their ovens(and that consumer reports tested & reported on sound).
