I almost completed the interior of my garage. I had my garage floor done with a beautiful black and silver metallic flake epoxy over a light grey base tone on floor. The finish has a very high gloss top coat that looks stunning! . . It almost looks wet! The walls were just painted a medium charcoal for the top half of the walls. The bottom half I had a PVC Material (taupe color) attached to the wall (easy to just hose down). Wall cabinets are white, and door at the moment, is a bright bright white color with black accents. I think I do want to keep the black accents. I am trying to figure out: (1) Should I mute the white a bit on the door color so not to be so stark and get them closer to the white in the cabinets orrrr maybe paint the door an extremely light grey color? (2) The trim right now matches the wall which I'm NOT sure I like. I was thinking of doing the trim a very deep charcoal color (almost black but not quite) . . same color I actually used on the beam that runs across the garage ceiling. And maybe make the stairs the same color as the trim? Need some suggestions. I attached a picture to give you a visual.

Personally, I like the third one A LOT -- the white framing of the windows on the garage link up to the house, and the main color links into what the rest of the house is doing. (On my monitor, #2 and #4 look like the same color.) I'd go with #3. #1 is too stark unless the majority of your house proper were white. Edit - I now see the difference between #2 and #4. I'd still simply love #3... Those garage windows perfectly add in with the other house windows!

Good point about the garage doors fading away. When I bought my house they were a contrasting color. Once I painted them the same color as the body of the house, the house seemed much larger. Also, the front porch was more prominent. I think if you do this for your house, then your very lovely front porch will become the focal point. Right now, it competes with the garage doors. So i recommend painting the garage doors a color that is very much like your brick and selecting a color for the front door to make it pop.

There is a large camp of no shutter people on Houzz. If they don't function or are not as large as they should be to function - get rid of them. I sometimes agree, and sometimes feel like the shutters add color and interest and are there purely for decorative reason, and this is perfectly okay. Your description of Victorian Inspired is also fine. It is not a Gothic (Think Haunted House) or Queen Anne Victorian, but it has the general shape and feel of a Victorian home, which is why you used the word "inspired." "Queen Anne homes are the quintessential Victorian home: They are asymmetrical, two or three (or more) stories tall, have steeply pitched roofs and large wrap-around porches. They are often adorned with differing wall textures and ornate trim—which gives them the “gingerbread” effect commonly associated with Victorian homes—that is typically painted in a variety of accent colors. Some Queen Anne homes also have octagonal towers (topped with a round pointed roof) and ornate bay windows—in short, nothing about these homes is subtle." Not all Victorians are the quintessential Victorian. Here is one that was featured in Architectural Digest. If all you want to do is change the color of the shutters, door and garage door and you found something that you think is beautiful a few blocks away, I would go knock on their door and ask what colors they used. My experience is that people are truly flattered when you knock on their door and ask something about their color choices or landscape choices. I have ended up in long conversations and even been given home and garden tours by doing this. I have gotten plant cuttings and been given samples of paint when the label was unreadable. I have never been turned away or scolded for admiring someone's home.
