Design Dilemma Kitchens

What to do with odd-shaped island

we are replacing the dark granite with a white with gray veined Quartz. I also want to drop the high counter to meet the workspace counter height. Is there a way I can modify the outside edge of new counter height to curve it or change in some way so I don’t have 3 angles to deal with? I was thinking of a large curve but fear that would look odd with the shape of inside angles. Suggestions to change or keep the same angles in new dropped countertop? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I think one large curve would look very natural with angled base.

We would need an accurate floor plan drawn with dimensions to provide good advice. 1/4” scale grid paper with each square representing 1’ is a good place to start.

$10K for L-shaped kitchen+island-what would you do?

I just got very lucky and found cabinets with shaker style doors ON SALE. I have an "L" shaped kitchen about 175" total and I'm putting in approx. 16 cabinets: top and bottom. White painted maple, dove tailed constructions, silent shut drawers, full overlay, for less than $5,000. The cabinets are Mid Continental. I looked them up online and they're reputable although not often heard of. It's the Hartford style doors. They have a square recessed panel with a rectangle frame although they have two other styles they consider Shaker. I didn't mind compromising to save over $2,000 which was the cost of the true shaker doors (they call one Concord). You can look them up and find a dealer and see if they also have a sale.

This has Oriental images and the shape is odd. What is its purpose?

No metal at all and smooth edges, no spots where metal may have been. It appears to be complete but is bewildering as to purpose for this shape. It seems much sturdier than papier-mache but looks like it somewhat while having a bit of depth to the images. I have seen some photos of lacquerware and that is more of what it looks like. The inside appears to be wood but lightweight and has beautiful carvings in it that are repetitive. The inside is a lighter color if it is wood and looks like a stain on darker edges. Looks like a lot of work went into it. Images are of birds, flowers people and a pagoda on the outside with a black background.

@aktillery9 I will post another pick to maybe show better what I mean! This is the view looking into the family foom. Kitchen is on the left and dining is on right, marked by two of those pillars. So a rug tucked under the sofa would just sort of start abruptly when viewed from this angle. Maybe I'm imagining that this will look odd ha ha!

Thank you for asking, speralta46. This is our end result. I have another photo from another angle but can't get it to attach to this for some reason. I love this configuration and the upper level drop-down. I do have to keep it cleared of "stuff" but because its all in the open that makes me want to keep it cleared. I now have a large circulart metal tray with a display of candles, etc. on this end of the island that I change out for seasons. We have 5 bar stools (not shown) that border the island that are great for entertaining a small group and 2 plain ones we pull up on the uside for my husband and I when we have guests. We really enjoy this open concept and the spaciousness for cooking and entertaining. I hope this gives you some good ideas.
