Dining room chair suggestions needed
Comments (31)Thank you all for your very kind words. I really appreciate it because it's scary venturing out of the box in decor. There's sometimes a fine line between "wow" and "yuck." It's very comforting to think maybe I'm staying on the right side of that line. Hi Debbimc and welcome! Yes the entryway light fixture is too modern. I will haunt CL for a deal. It took me over a week of work to hand paint that border, but I probably should paint it out. Or, I could continue it through the DR but it was so much work. The legal bookcase can go downstairs when I can get some help in carrying it. Thanks about my furniture. Moonkat, I'm eagerly awaiting threads where you reveal pics of the inside of your house (did I miss some and if so can you give the urls, please?). I think we all should decorate with whatever turns us on. If you start with antiques, you don't have to worry about fads. You're *always* out of style. hehe. Yeah, doesn't Les have a wonderful eye for things? I love the more gentle, rounded look of the chairs she suggested, plus they sure look comfy. Cooperbailey, yes the big window is Gallery Glass. You all can do it! I think I will spray the rocker black and trim it with a wee bit of gold. If it's still not good there I can always move it downstairs or sell it. It's just my favorite seat when company comes. Thanks for the tips about restore a finish -- very good for us all to know. Looks like you had great results with it. Walkin ~~ I stopped at the hardware store today for spray black paint and a drop cloth. I'm going to hit all the chairs with it and reupholster the seats, which is easy. Then live with it while I look for something better. When/if I sell them on CL I should get more for them as I've fixed them up. Painting is a ton easier than stripping. So I just parked my car outside for the night and I'll see if I revive enough energy to do a little sanding/painting tin the garage. Jerseygirl ~~ Thanks so much for looking for a chandy for me. I'm thinking masses of crystal, but I'll haunt CL with your idea in mind too, and see what I can find. Pictures would be most welcome. Another possibility is an art deco fixture. Dilly ~~ Wow, you supplied a ton of really creative, fun ideas. Much for me to think about. I never would have thought about sticking crystals into the existing light fixture. You are so clever! YUM on that chandy you pictured. Parma ~~ Thanks for your thoughts on the lawyer's cabinet. I can't move it immediately. It really is a versatile piece, isn't it? You can display anything in there, I think. I love it. Slateberry ~~ What an interesting idea! I love to mess around with paint. Patser ~~ Yes the DR table is oak and I love the grain of it. Right... I think the chairs might be fruitwood, as I recall, but no visible grain. Wow, those chairs are gorgeous! WAY too much money, but gorgeous. I'm going to continue to haunt CL I think. Meanwhile, I'll see what I can do with these chairs to improve their looks. I'm thinking about the set of chairs I have that are not comfy and they're probably perfect for that table. I can't remember, but I think they are oak but need to be stripped. I just wish they were comfy....See MoreSuggestions to update a traditional dining room
Comments (62)Probably the most frustrating thing about archos, android phones, Zunes not to mention the iPods and iPhones is the fact that they have no movie or DVD converter supplied with them. Or the ones you need to do get are bad. Here are 5 Either get the video in avi or divx format, this is often completed with a torrent downloader. Or should you have the film subsequently put it into your pcs rom drive. 1. Choose the solution to fit your system, many converters possess a set of devices to pick from such as for example android, iPhone, psp, ipad, zune, the record continues on. 2. Hit the convert button and with regards to the period of the movie wait for about five minutes each hour of video. 3. simple to follow actions to place films on your portable media player or mobile phone. 4. Get a great avi, DVD converter and install it on your desktop. Be cautious here as a lot if these contain spyware, more about that later. 5. Lots of people complain that films on their iPhone or ipod itouch have choppy playback, the reason being they have arranged the framerate improper. Plenty of movie converters might be over difficult with adjustments for frame rate, mpeg production and much more. Try to stay away from these because they usually takes an hour of assessment to only put up. Here is a link that might be useful: AVI...See MoreSuggestions for new dining room color (pics)
Comments (23)Amysrq, I've only seen the Philipsburg Blue on-line where it reads dark gray on my monitor. I'm anxious to get to the BM store tomorrow while my little ones are in day camp to check out a swatch. I am planning on keeping the trim off-white as I will DIY this painting project myself. I don't want to tackle painting the triple window in this room. Thanks parma42 for the reassurance that dark blue won't swallow up my furniture as I thought it would. I think I'll have to paint a test board to get comfortable with dark blue. And threegrad, I have to give the green/blue combo some thought. My initial feeling is that this is just too much color for me, although this morning I was contemplating red for the upper and off white for the lower portion. Red is my favorite color. In my photo, the rug appears to have a lot of hot pink, but in person it's a bright red....See MorePhotoshopped dining room--any suggestions?
Comments (46)I like where you put the bird prints. I was hoping to use them over the sofa in the adjoining room, but might consider another painting a little more dramatic and has all the colors of the room in green, orange, and blue over the sofa. I think the picture is a little misleading but there's only a wall space of around 4 ft. Doesn't leave much room for much of anything. I'll explore one mirror but there's already another mirror further down the wall at the entrance to the room. Seeing this is great though because it's really a jumping off point and now I can continue the adjoining living room....See MoreImran Shafiq
