Consider styling the bay windows like this with drapery outside the bay and shades on the individual windows in it. Drapes here are meant to function, but stationary ones can work too. The windows flanking the fireplace could simply have matching roman shades (real or faux.) If you don't want to move your sofa to the windows, then try a bench there to make the area useful, and turn the two chairs to face the fireplace. Don't clutter the mantel. A great piece of art no wider than the firebox opening, and a pair of candlesticks or lanterns to one side will work.

I like your room. I do not know where Deco got "no wider than the firebox opening" from...sounds not right for me. As you see on her last pic wider wall art works great. Bamboo shades would look good. I would go with neutral drapes with floor or walls color.

Might not "sound right" Celery, but your rendering follows that "rule" which works for 90% of mantel art, in my experience. Looks great!

Regarding the fireplace, in general, "no wider than the firebox opening" has worked nicely from what I've seen. I also agree with not cluttering the mantel. Simple mantels are so much nicer IMO.

I can not agree with "no wide than FP opening" . In some cases people have an old style burner. I think it is matter in mantle length more.

I really don't know about the mantel length factor. Art size really depends on the fireplace design and personal preference. My issue is just don't clutter it up. The OP's pix indicate no problem with that.

This room also seems dark at night even there are 3 lamps. Will it look good to add more lamps and where?

You could buy a bench, upholstered or not. Additional lamps may depend on where you have outlets. I see some but they're not convenient to the current furniture locations. Maybe after the window treatment is done and we rearrange the seating, we can work on that.

If you don’t need the fan, a chandelier on a dimmer would be beautiful in your space and could flood the room with light.

I would remove the brown chair--it doesn't seem to work with the style or color palette of the room. I would also add end tables on either side of the sofa with lamps on them, and move the floor lamps elsewhere. Not sure what the black item is to the left of the sofa, but I'd try to hide that.

I would love to have ceiling light but ceiling fan is necessary for this room. That's why I am thinking about adding more lamps:) I have tried a larger mirror on the mantle but it reflected the kitchen light and did not like it. Will keep looking for art on websites.

Why not try removing the brown chair to a bedroom for now and putting the two gray chairs you're keeping in its place? Unless you're going for a beach/coastal vibe, the fan should probably be replaced by a different style and one that does a top job on circulating the air with no light at all. I'm sure we can do a good job with additional lighting once the furniture and drapes are situated.
