Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Odd shaped room furniture placement

I need some help. We have a small living room. Only one wall for the sofa and only one wall for the television. I’ll just show some pictures so you can see what I’m talking about. I’m at a loss for how to make the room feel balanced but also practical. We are in the middle of renovation last and ordering furniture so excuse the mess

I love the cabinet but IMO not for the TV since it really puts the TV too high for good viewing . Maybe a floor plan of the whole area to scale with meaurements and also what you mean by ordering furniture. Do have space for that cabinet in the DR that is where it would work best. A bit more info is always good. You need some art for sure The rug is cool maybe a color from it for the walls .

we need room measurements to really help you. Also are you saying you are replacing the furniture? where does the larger opening lead too?

I think these are my favorite! i never would have pushed the furniture over that far towards the stairs. But I like it. what would you put in the back "nook" and then now at the bottom right of the layout (which leads into the dining room)? anything? Kids toy organization will go somewhere for the next few years :)

I like your current arrangement. For more seating, you can use two longer sofas in the same arrangement. Or a sofa with two chairs as you have it but without the ottomans. That leaves room for a backless bench type of seating to face into the conversation area that wouldn't interfere with the TV. With any options, your seating area is rectangular, so a rug would be fine to use. You may have room for a narrow console table behind the sofa facing the tv, if you place a sofa there.

If you have a better organization system in your closet, and pare down the items that are stored in the room, could you get rid of some of the furniture? Definitely get rid of the TV cabinet and mount it on the wall. Maybe you could get rid of the cabinet beside the closet, or move it elsewhere in the room. We don't have room or furniture measurements so hard to tell, but could it go on the same wall that the green cabinet is on now, but closer to the window? Not sure if it would block access to the bed. I like your headboard and would not replace it. I'd put less art on the walls, not more. For the group of 3 pictures, hang them at the same height and closer together, about the distance of the picture mat or a bit closer. They should "read" as one unit. Unless you use the mirror for dressing/makeup, a piece of art would look better, e.g. the piece that is over the tall dresser, although the formal-looking gold frame doesn't really go with the more rustic look of the room at all. Can you use it in a different room and bring something else in here? The green vase is out of place too. I would fold the checked blanket in half and lay it sideways across the foot of the bed.

If the red door is the front door, it would be good to get sofa out of direct entry path. This may mean floating a sofa, facing fireplace and mount tv over fireplace. I recommend a sofa table to anchor floating sofa. And this is a mount that lowers tv to eye level for comfortable viewing; there is also a motorized option.

Buying a smaller piece, we just needed a place to
Put a tv. The red door is the front door. The lever opening leads to the dinning room.

Measurements

Wall with couch is 10ft long
Wall between door and window with tv is 6ft

I’m looking for suggestions (visuals if anyone has any) for furniture placement.

I can remove the chaise portion of the couch so there is no L to the couch and then the couch would be 7ft long

I was thinking of an oval or rectangular coffee table

I wanted to add 2 chairs near the couch but unsure of the room and making it too cramped

I can’t mount the TV over the fireplace we don’t have electrical and it’s a concrete coating it won’t hold a TV. The ONLY place we have for the TV is the wall beside the red door

Tv could be mounted from the ceiling - there are other options possibly as well. You could keep tv wiring where it is and use a mobile console - console on wheels. Don’t let the tv hold you hostage.

You could also get a corner tv console and put tv in corner on left of fireplace. Put some shades on the windows.

Hmmm mounting from the ceiling could work! Thank you. Also ignore the nakedness of the room, we are replacing baseboards, window casings and getting the inside of the house painted. Lots of works still to be done but trying to decide on furniture since deals are so good right now.

If anyone else has ideas or sample pictures of what we could do I’d appreciate it. Really omg looking for a minimalist but slightly modern style

You could consider bringing in a small scaled sofa.

With a small scaled sofa, facing fireplace, I think you should be able to bring in one, or maybe two, chairs. Swivel chairs could be one option.
