Help with window treatment for off centered window
Comments (6)I don't think the centered thing will be an issue at all. And, as for ease of cleaning, I can't imagine they'd ever need a deep cleaning in bedroom. In a dining room or kitchen maybe, but not a bedroom. If you like the drapes, I say take em' with you. Moving costs can get so out of control that it seems silly not to reuse the items you already own, if you like them. If you have a good vacuum with an extension on it for upholstery, just hit em with that once a month or so to remove any dust build-up. I have linen pottery barn drapes in my living room that pillow to the floor - i vacuum the ends where they get dusty once a week and in the pleats where dust hides I only vacuum every few months - but that's about it. No dry cleaning routinely or anything. How often did you clean them before?...See MoreOff centered sofa. How to balance?
Comments (22)Ingrid just to clarify, the tv console will be going away and the tv will go into a wall bookcase. I’m looking for a new coffee and end tables. Drape samples are on their way. I’m open to the idea of a glass coffee table or other suggestions but I’d rather get color from art and pillows rather than a rug for this room. On a previous thread about my living room I did take your great advice about a glass table. Thanks RNmom good eye. I moved the sofa over another 6” and it’s now centered on the windows. The recliners all get used when family visits which is a couple times a week. So the corner is used. Erin, I don’t like the couch sticking out beyond the wall either. My only other option would be to have the contractor back and extend the wall. Sounds expensive so I’m trying to make it work as is. The tv is going to have to stay on that wall. Currently the art is centered on the wall. I appreciate all your ideas even if some aren’t going to work. Now on to art - should I be looking for a vertical canvas on the left side and two square stacked pieces for the right side? If so, should they all have the same theme and colors? Suggestions?...See MoreDecor for large wall with couch off centered?
Comments (37)I think there are more important issues than what to put on a wall. The couch is huge and takes over the room, and none of the other furniture is working with it. Too much beige. The tired pillows need colorful pillow covers. Toss the “accessories” on the side table and fireplace and the one lonely too-small lamp on the side table. The side table should go and either get a side table to match the coffee table or replace them both. Two floor lamps for reading are needed on either end of the sofa as well as sconces over the fireplace and additional lighting. The TV is set too high to watch. The baby furniture is not a good look but I understand if it is necessary. I would however put the baby seat away unless it is being used. The set of smaller photos on the wall opposite the fireplace does not work as they are too small and do not make an impact lined up along the wall. This room needs some color. If you can do it, what I would do is to either take apart the too-large couch and reconfigure it so that there are two seating areas facing each other on either side of the fireplace, and the TV moved to the wall where you would like to put something, along with bookcases and TV storage that would surround the TV. That is, a large nice-looking storage unit. Then you could have an interesting display above the fireplace, say, a mirror and some photos. Something personal....See MoreHELP! Comments (6)It doesn't look like there is much that can be done, however you could use drapery panels on both windows like you see here below: Or you might try some nice artwork in between the two windows: Perhaps you could paint the walls a lovely color as well:...See MoreValinta
