I finished a novel last night by Mary Higgins Clark, a very popular mystery novelist.

It was written in the late 80's and set in Minnesota. Rabbit rabbit was mentioned.

Folklore then said to 'fall asleep saying hare hare; and wake up saying rabbit rabbit.'

Interesting!

I've come across a number of references to rabbit rabbit when reading fiction and am always surprised when I do.

oooooo the IRONY of the superstition this form perpetuates!

I've never heard of this superstition but I try to remember. Although usually the first words out of my mouth are 'Good morning, Margaret' when I greet the dog. But today I woke up around 4, looked at the clock, said 'rabbit, rabbit' and went back to sleep.

We could all use a little extra boost these days - especially DD who was finally furloughed yesterday and since her organization is undergoing a major upheaval figures her department will be eliminated in favor of an outside vendor.

Sorry to hear that maire-cate....maybe she can get a job with the outside vendor if it happens...I have a bud who has done just that and was essentially working in the same place doing the same job but for a different company.

I put my phone against my clock last night, so when I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't read the clock, I remembered.. I think it's a cute, harmless little superstition.

Yes aok, I view it as a fun little challenge. I wonder why those who don't play feel a need to stop by each month to make a remark. I can't stand to watch boxing and I think it's an awful sport, but I don't go to boxing forums and complain or make comments, KWIM?

I finally remembered! Usually I blow it by talking to a cat first, then hoping that didn't count. :)
