Breakfast Nook Large Window Treatments - Table?

We are working on updating this little space in our house. Generally, we are clean-lines (not at all ornate), transitional - think RH without that price tag.

We need a larger six-person table (definitely not glass top - ugh), but can't agree on the style. Spouse likes the idea of a rectangular table, I'm not sure. I'm worried about the furniture being too "heavy" for the space.

There are two larger windows we want to cover - one is about 104". I REALLY don't like cellular shades, but am not sure if roller shades will work.

Not sure how to explain other than I don't want the window treatments to look cheap. We will leave them uncovered most of the time and want to keep them as unblocked as possible (no shutters).

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

If you get a lot of sun then just solar shades so you control the heat and UV and keep the view. As for a table I love glass tables they look light are easy to clean with just a micro fiber cloth and you use placemats so really that would be my first choice. I would need to know meaurements too as I see it now there is not that much space.

Bamboo shades would look nice in this setting...perhaps solid valances to cover them when rolled up...

Great ideas. At first I was thinking, no, I can't do a bench because I really need some seating for the kids to eat breakfast, etc, and I do not want a table by the bench. But then I looked at Igloochic's kitchen and it is great! I am going to measure and see if I can make a bigger island (maybe just a bigger countertop with overhang) and put in a bench or chair.

Have you thought about turning your table to have the sort end using the bay for seating and the chairs on both long sides? This would give a more balanced look to the room and you would not have to swag your light (New light???). Then ditch the heavy thick green hutch in the corner and get a longer thinner buffet you can center on the wall with some art above it. eliminate the peninsula /eliminate the diag sink / eliminate double ovens-get a range w a good hood instead of cooktop. Construct a U kitchen with your three walls and w the changes it should work better. You have over 10 ft across...so 5 or 6 feet of aisle. there is no reason why you can't get a U kitchen to work for two cooks. Eliminating the bay window seems unnecessary. You need lighter walls..lighter counters.. w blinds closed and only one window. You'll get better task lighting as part of a redo. Good ceiling feature also: so start with calculation of budget, as new appliances and new everything are part of a good plan. You have space.

Why is the top height of the window set at 8? I think what you should do is draw an inside to-scale elevation and see what the various options look like. One option you could consider for dining is to have banquette seating in the alcove which would require less depth for the table, and that would indicated yet another window arrangement. There are downsides to banquette seating but people sit at it all the time in fine dining restaurants.

The space is an odd shape about 10x10, with a corner cut off (if that makes sense)
