I like the rug you selected and the coffee table though a larger table might work better for you. If you are like many families, the sofa is also an eating and game playing space so maybe a table with a lift top would be more useable.

It definitely picks up your colors for sure. It's quite bold if that is your preference, then it certainly goes. I think the ones that celerygirl shared lighten the space up a bit more. Hard to tell the coloring of the walls. In your latest photo it looks dark but in the others it looks lighter.

I do not know your measurements... but to me, it looks like there are two spaces. One is the sofa and tv space and the other the fireplace area. If that is the case, I would push the furniture into the tv space and add a couple of chairs or something of that sort in front of the fireplace. I could be wrong... but in the photo it does feel like you are using furniture to cover two spaces. Maybe some more photos would help see the entire space.
