I need to know your budget but FYI the doors are the expensive part of cabinets and often they will cost more than a new kitchen IMO your kitchen needs storage more than anything and you need to post pics that show the whole space and all of them need to able to be enlarged . The pic you posted can’t be enlarged BTW

(What I can see in the small photo is a thoughtful arrangement of things and not clutter--the reflection in the counters makes everything appear twice though. It might not be at the height of fashion but nobody should have to live like they are in a catalog and I feel that it is appropriate to decorate one's kitchen.)

We can't see the floor in your photo. You could repaint your cabinets, although I happen to think they look good especially since wood stained kitchen cabs are trending. If you would like to repaint, please know that the cost to have it done professionally can be expensive. And if DIY, I would not recommend for beginners... there are many steps involved and it is timely.

Honestly, I would get some items off the counters and replace the counter and b/s material above all else. I would also install some under cabinet lighting if you do not already have it.

Then again, these could all be pointless suggestions as we don't know your budget.

The door style on your cabinets isn’t bad - I wouldn’t change the doors, but I would paint white and lighten things up. We recently repainted ours, and there are some great articles on Houzz about DIY cabinet painting. But megs1030 is right - it is NOT a weekend job and you need to use a good cabinet paint, preferably use a sprayer for the doors, and follow the steps. Professional painting would be less expensive than trying to replace and match door stain. We have a gray tile floor, black jet mist granite countertops and used a grey and white herringbone marble-type backsplash and were very pleased with the outcome. I know there are pictures of that combo in Houzz, because that’s how I decided on the backsplash. To update, you may want to remove the crown molding from the top of the wall cabinets.

Thanks everyone. Will try to post better pics when I get back from my July 4th trip. I do have pot light lights (6), 3 pendants, and under cabinet lighting. The cabinets look good from a far but around all the knobs the stain has worn down. I have tried re-staining around them a few times but it never looks professional. Even had a pro do one cabinet and it only looked good for a few months. Probably selling home in a couple of years and want to make it as universally "liked" as possible for resale. The black granite and floors I think make it look dark and dated although you still can see everything well with the lights on. The ceilings are 10 feet so going that high with cabinets would be a bit much Im afraid. My budget is around $3000. I do like the idea of just changing the backsplash to add more light. Was also thinking of changing the set of cabinets on each side of the vent hood with glass front cabinets.. thoughts?

Do u need under cabinet lighting? LED bulbs. Recess lighting.
