An Interpretation of Augusta Luise
Comments (25)Oz, I'm sorry your Munstead Wood lightened up in the heat, but I can imagine that even when it's not temperature hot, the strength of your sun's rays, due to their angle, is so much greater than here. That's got have a bleaching effect. I've found over the years that Ebb Tide is about the worst to bleach out. When ET was younger I literally got some blooms that were almost white. I wonder if AL has some pigments that fade more easily than others, so that in your summer sun the less transient pigments (reds?) are the ones that persist and give those petals their brightness. Just some late night musings. Diane...See MoreAugusta Luise in Autumn
Comments (19)susan from California [haven't seen her post in a long time] had photos of her fabulous rose garden. Colors she mixed were coral [like Lady Elsie May - which I adore, looks good with everything in my garden], apricot, lavender, purple, dark and light yellow, red, pinks......the effect was stunning. Sure hope Palatine offers this rose - remember when Hortico had it - always wanted to get it but didn't. Wont miss the opportunity if I get it again! Gorgeous photos!...See MoreSome Photos of My Baby..... Augusta Luise, that is
Comments (45)Flowers, I'm not taking credit for her looks, though I do try to keep winter at bay. So I'll pass your compliments on to Augusta this spring--she's sleeping now as you know-ha. Crazy Love is quite pretty if you haven't checked her out. If you really want to torture yourself, search rose Augusta Luise on Google; then look at Google Images (you may have done this); they are incredible. I'm sure that eventually Tantau will get the message and get their tardy bums in gear. They are probably afraid to deal with us, we're so nutty. Probably have been warned about us already--ha. Comments (20)I've had Gruss an Coburg for awhile though haven't grown it well in the ground. It did fine in a pot for a long time. Then I planted it in the ground and it died. Something about the spot I guess. I planted a second one which is doing ok but not that big here in zone 7, NC. It does have very good repeat and fragrance. Leaves do better with some morning sun. I'd think your band from Burling will do well potted up. I think it likes a warm climate....See Morerosecanadian
