4 inch countertop backsplash or just tile chair rail ?
Comments (3)We used travertine with an onyx border and onyx liner to 42"H on the wall above the vanity with a large mirror in the hall bath. No problems at all, and it looks very nice. IMHO, the 4" backsplash looks too small. Besides, sink splashes and toothbrush drips can easily pass over the 4" backsplash. BTW, have the granite guy caulk the countertop to the tile, matching the countertop, not the tile grout. It looks better. For our master bath, we're planning on using a 6" granite backsplash atop the granite countertop, rather than the wall tile atop the countertop. It's purely for a different look....See MoreStick on tiles for counter tops and possibly backsplash???
Comments (5)Sharon, Stick on tiles might work fine for a backsplash, especially if it doesn't get a lot of gunk on it and need a lot of wet cleaning, but I wouldn't want them on a countertop because they could get really icky if moisture gets under them wehre they come together, and bits of food could get into the joins as well. Have you thought of mixing a color paint you like better? Or stenciling a pattern?...See MoreBacksplash tile to counter or is counter trim piece needed?
Comments (4)Found the right search: "tile backsplash granite counter" and sure enough many people have asked. Here's one: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2696049/3-granite-backsplash-needed-if-plan-to-tile-backsplash-kitchen?n=5 Takeaway is that it is definitely not necessary and the majority of people don't like it with the extra granite piece. Someone observed that this probably ends up this way most often when the tile was added later over the original granite backsplash....See Moreneed a backsplash for laborite blue/green counter top in kitchen
Comments (21)I LOVE your counters - I considered a Blue Australe which seems similar to laboradite, but it was almost twice the price, at the time, of what I ended up choosing, Volga Blue. (very hard capturing either of these stones in a picture, isn't it) So I understand your challenge, I spent a long time puzzled over a backsplash for my counters. I went with the Seneca Tile company's Blue Lagoon from the Studio line. My counter reads black and hints of silver at first glance, the blue inclusions are subtle until you are trying to look for them, so it doesn't read too busy in real life. In the same line, they have a gorgeous variegated green called Waterlily, it might work in your kitchen Seneca waterlily- here's some more inspiration, some of these blue/ green mixes that may work- from http://senecatiles.com/senecablends-gallery/nggallery/page/1 Here's a work in progress shot of our Blue Lagoon backsplash going up- I have no regrets going bold and colorful, I feel happy every time I look at it...See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
