How To Improve Curb Appeal?
Comments (40)I don't like what your contractor is proposing. That porch shed type roof is very heavy looking and it looks low. It doesn't enhance your home IMO. You are going to be spending a great deal of money if you go through these changes. Make sure you are getting a better result. Sometimes the small simple changes are much more effective than changing roof lines all over the place. I think you need to work with someone that can design the exterior changes (architect) and then have the contractor give you the cost for those changes. Most contractors aren't designers too....See MoreImproving Curb Appeal - What would you do to improve curb appeal?
Comments (15)Shutters should appear to be operable, so they would need to be as wide as the window... so if closed, they would cover the window. So no shutters on your house. I agree with taking out the boxwood that have been butchered. If you take the bed all the way to the sidewalk, you need a pocket bed on the left side. Yes to learn more about pruning the Crepe Myrtle. Ever heard of Crepe Murder? It's a thing. LOL Honestly you don't even have to prune them. We had several over 30ft tall at our last house, but you don't want one too tall right next to the house. Having lived in the South all my life, I don't have a problem with the grass since we get rain. No idea where you live, but the grass looks healthy. Unless you want to spend every weekend gardening, or hire a gardener, I would not go to the extreme of removing the grass. If there room for a wooden bench on the front porch?...See MoreHow can I improve curb appeal and symmetry?
Comments (9)In reality you don't have to do anything. But, I'm staring at it thinking I would replace top right window with a decorative hex window to get away from trying to be so matchy matchy, and do the decorative siding on the top gable like you mention to set it apart, but I'd consider tearing out the deck, add nice stairway to door and let the patio space be at ground level, so perhaps can consider adding a pergola on the right or have a roof top added for front door area to set it off. Good luck, great opportunity!...See MoreHelp! How do I improve exterior curb appeal?
Comments (4)No on gables. They don’t fit at all. Embrace the style of this cool house. :) I’d replace that white wood with cedar: Do a search for 1950’s flat roof houses, lots of great images come up.
