Am I just going crazy?
Comments (24)The difficult part is that there IS a very valid reason why both of them would (and should) want to be friends with each other: their daughter. In order to be able to deal with things having to do with her and both of them, they should ideally get along. It's not IMPOSSIBLE if they can't get along, but it sure does make it a whole lot easier on everyone. They may just be trying to negotiate the iffy bounds between being friendly enough to cooperate and avoid cold tension & fighting but distant enough so that it isn't too flirty and inappropriate. The fact is, as long as they're both actively engaged in SD's life, they will have SOME sort of connection to each other, because circumstances will require coordination. And, interestingly, the better they get along, then with time they will actually have LESS to do with each other than if they didn't get along. It's when one or the other parent has to go nit-picking and raising a stink about every little thing that the involvement between former spouses gets excessive. Makes sense if you think about it that way, and should be a relief to hear. So there ARE good reasons ---that benefit everyone in the long-run--- for them to be at least "friend-ly", if not "friends". Sounds like they both may just need to refine the boundaries a bit better, but I think it's good that they get along. If you're not comfortable with the idea of he and ex getting along amicably (that's AMICABLY, not AMOROUSLY, which of course would not be good!) or if you feel like you can't trust him at his word (either because of his actions or because of your feelings), I would seriously consider whether or not you will marry him. Because, one way or the other --whether they get along or not-- she will somehow, sometimes, be a factor. That said, he SHOULDN'T be lying to you about anything. That's not cool. If you can't believe what he says, her presence will haunt you no matter what....See MoreAm I crazy or will this work??
Comments (22)All right! I'm back. I'm no architect so I am having a hard time interpreting what I can see of your plan, but I'm pretty sure I see that there will be an island with seating in the room we are discussing. I might also see two stoves and I just gotta know the story there. I'll tell you about my situation in the hopes that it helps you decide. Only with measurements of real furniture can we know the answer to the primary question "will it fit," but I will throw my voice in for changing the question to " does it need to fit". My kitchen has a very large island, it is primarily open to the dining room. The dining room has the only wood burning FP in the house, but the dining room is also open to a small living room with the gas FP. We are currently a family of six and we like to host dinners. For reference, the dining area is about 17' from french doors to island edge x22' from FP to stair but it is a major pass through so let's call it 10x17. ( this is subtracting the space needed for the island seating and opening the French doors) if it weren't for the need to walk past the FP to get to the stairs, you could land a plane in there. We have a baby grand and a small every day dining table that seats eight often, we put a huge top over it for holidays and big meals and can seat at least 12 comfortably. I also wanted seating by the wood fireplace because I just love wood fires. In my case, with the pass-through and the baby grand it made no sense. And it would've looked dumb! Plus we have a wood fire Max 1-2 days a week only during the coldest months. So I curl up in front of the gas fire most nights, but on the nights we have a fire in the fireplace I either pull a chair from the table up to it or, especially if we have guests, we all lounge around the table enjoying each other's company and the luxury of a fire in the dining room. The kids head to the TV room which is out of sight. What we never do is move into that living room because it's so nice having a big comfortable dining room with a cozy fire So IMO: leave this space primarily for dining. No backless sofa, no double sided sofa. But do choose some nice wingbacks for the head of table seats to give you the flexibility to arrange them in front of the fire when you want, either every day or just when you have a fire, and at the table when that tickles your fancy. They could even go Against the wall on either side of the stove during the summer. Make the other chairs comfortable but with backs that are table height to provide a clean view of the wood stove from the kitchen if that is possible Ha ha I just noticed in the first picture of my son is reading by the fire...See MoreAm I crazy to get the whole house LVP and no carpet? Comments (52)@Chessie The irony is that we actually don't even take baths! The default option was a built-in bathtub surrounded by a rectangular tiled edge, and I knew we'd be bonking our knees and calves into the corners every time we walked into our closets. Similar to this one: So we upgraded to a freestanding just so we could avoid the bruises! Though looking at it now that it's installed, it kind of makes me want to take a bath after all....See MoreAm I crazy or is possible Christmas LED lights are making tree grow?
Comments (0)So I almost killed my Orange tree a few weeks ago due to me not being able to water it and a growth light being on 24/7 for about 3 weeks (amazon plug malfunctioned). The tree dropped all of its leaves and I thought it was almost dead. I still watered it and left it for dead. I decided since it had no leaves to turn on the Christmas lights on it and within a few days as a joke and I noticed the thing started to put flowers (yes in the middle of winter.) So I was like ok...then started to cut the little oranges that would grow into oranges (to re-route energy to green growth) thinking if it was putting flowers then for sure it wasn’t dead. I decided to trim the thing agressively thinking worst thing it can happen is the tree die. Within a week the tree was full of new green growth shooting leaves and branches (don’t know how you call them) everywhere. Do you think the christmas lights have something to do with it? They are the cheap led kind - blue, green, red - or am I just crazy? Thing is the tree is growing like mad even way more than it has ever grown on summer even full sun. The growth light I use it only for winter survival practically since its small (Spider Farmer 1000) and I only use it for around 5 hours at night so it can’t be the one making the tree grow. I know it may sound like exageration but the whole house smell like perfume now from all the flowers it keeps putting everyday....See Morecnn259
