Mishmash of the rest

At the end of the bloom season, there are late bloomers, some last blooms, and some clumps that are just now budding. These are a collection of those.

OK-showed this yesterday but this morning it had this show so am submitting again.

One of those “design dilemmas” 2 yellow Siloam planted side by side. Siloam Amazing Grace and Siloam Breeze to the left. Peach noid trying to survive at the bottom.

Plastic Pink Flamingo was in a pot last year and did not like its move to the ground-few blooms

For Debra’s review- this is the noid showing more pink-the next photo will show it at the end of the day

This was 7 pm photo. It does not get full sun all day and no western sun so I cannot vouch for sunfastness

Here is the best color and edge on Dearest Valentine-weather and temps never did cooperate with opening-still lovely

I love the mismash photo! It's fun seeing how multiple daylilies look together. Willow Dean and Garrett Mason are my favorites. Both have that light petal/darker edge that I love. The NOID in those pictures reminds me of Memphis except for the white edge. Both photos of it look marvelous! I'm so sorry Dearest Valentine isn't opening better for you. It opened here today and yesterday just fine. It's not an early morning opener though. Val likes to sleep in. When nights are cool, she almost always opens fully by 11. After warmer ngihts, she's open by 8:30 or 9 here.

The kittens are so cute! I didn't know Spot was in the family way. It looks like there a little spot in there with a tri-color and three little black kittens. I envy you having that littler. The kittens are so much fun, but then it's hard to find homes for them all.

Mara, I just read about a night blooming Cereus cactus. That could be ours in about 4 years. I am shipping them out as soon as I see how a sample one works out. I still have about 40 in the original pan I started them in. The ones pictured is the ones being sent out. Yours included. If you look back, I posted when I first started the seeds. Nov. 2011. Also thanks for the ID on the pencil cactus. I bought it as a crest grafted on a base. The base rotted and the crest took off with these strange stick shaped stems. The paddle cactus, I was trying to find a home for. Too much to bring in all the time. Thanks for ID. Microthrix, Thanks, I have to check that out.

Oceanna, we used to have 3 baskets, one for each kid, along the stairs, where we could throw stuff that was to go up to their rooms (like an errant sock from the living room floor...). But they never really used them. So I went down to one, theoretically for a similar purpose. What happens is, someone puts something in the basket and it might stay there for 6 months until Mom finally does something with it. So I guess the short answer is: the basket serves no purpose whatsoever. dawnp, I had a lot of photos that I had taken out of other frames, and a few more recent ones that I had enlarged. Then I picked my favorites, because I didn't have enough wall space for all the pictures! (I also bought way too many frames, but that's another story -- trying to find a wall downstairs to use the rest!) I used a lot of pictures from our vacations. No formal school pics except for one of each kid from when they were very little. And I sprinkled in a few b&w oldies, like our parents' wedding photos. Of course I made sure each child was equally represented! Thank you everyone!!

I am happy to share our office space (a small spare bedroom) done primarily with Ikea furniture. The 4x4 book case, inserts and desk attachment are all Ikea. The chair is from Cost PLus/World Market: The two case pieces are Ikea: I will be using the same book case only larger in our other guest bedroom for all my sewing supplies. That stoopless shower sounds like a good idea. I'd been wondering which direction the house faces. BTW, just for the record I was suggesting closing over one of those west windows to install a wall, which in itself would be reversible, not moving it. (Regarding easy answers for eldercare, they may be in short supply in future as more and more people live long past their ability to live independently. I suspect we may see a comparatively large-scale return to multigenerational living. How else are we going to pay for it all? The public dole? The pot we all pay into isn't bottomless, as we know all too well. And finding adequate quality of care, any care, is already a real issue for many anguished families. Also, people don't get to go on public aid, not legally anyway, without essentially bankrupting themselves, i.e., no inheritance to keep in the family. In future, as demand grows, our government's probably going to be a lot more able and interested in hunting down hidden and transferred assets, with laws written to assist. Carrots as well as sticks. And when assets really are finally gone? My 102-year-old aunt in Spokane's been paying $6-9K per month for her SNF for the past several years (her choice, she was invited to live with us and others). The facility still requires family watchfulness to avoid some neglect, but at least we've never had to forcibly rescue her from misery in the kind of institutions profiteers too often produce. Now, though, it's looking like she will outlive her investments, finally brain damaged from stroke this last year but still healthy, and one of her Washington relatives who is able to stay home with her or share daycare will get to take her home. It's about time for the decision.)

Stargate Portal looks glorious today, such rich colors. I really like the pink noid, glad you took more photos of it. Laura Harwood looks great in your garden, I’m a fan of hers always. The kitties are so cute, hope you find homes Quickly for the ones that don’t stay with you

Willow Dean Smith and Forsyth Garet Mason look very similar...... hard to choose which one I like best , so I choose BOTH! Ashville White Winged Dove is my number one choice though.

I also like your mishmash . it looks so natural ......like what you might see in an English cottage garden which is a look I love . No specimen gardens for me . I would rather see a couple of plants planted maybe just a touch too close than just see a plant and muich and a plant and mulch. and a plant and mulch .......that look does nothing for me at all.

Debra, I had not thought of Memphis as a possibly it very well could be. My Memphis was blooming today and I took a picture to compare. Mine has a little more peach than the noid but different parts of the yard, soil, etc. Dearest Valentine has had to fight heavy dew, cool nights and lots of rain this year. But the color has been great.

Spot arrived as a drop off-after taming her I made two vet appointments only to have her disappear the days of the appointments. Then we had stay at home and vets were only doing emergency-before I could get her in she had some boyfriends. One baby is spoken for but four to go!

Sherry, Stargate Portal has been lovely this year. And ditto to finding good homes for my babies!

Heather and Julia-it definitely is a mishmash in there-if you could only see all of it!!! Heather, my plants do more than just touch-they hug, cuddle, squeeze and entwine!!!

My favorite is the mish mash shot. All those yellow UF with 2 dramatic spots of round color. It looks really good......I actually like that little Peach Noid you have. Can you pot it up for a bouquet in the center of the outdoor table? It's cool and refreshing on a hot summer day.............I like the color on your UF Plastic Pink Flamingo. I hope it takes off for you next year...............Maryl

I'm not happy with this new format and the way the posts are shown. I totally missed the "read more" at the end of the post showing the new babies. How lucky they are to have you to take care of them and moma instead of being subjected to the "wild" world. There's a 75% mortality for the kittens if not taken in. All lives have value. Kate - The reason I mentioned Memphis in connection wtih the NOID is that Trimmer crossed London Calling with White Noise to get Memphis. What I'm saying is the NOID has the Trimmer look, another reason this is likely White Noise.

I'm glad to know you already have a home for one of the kittens. Spot must have a sixth sense aboiut those vet appointments. LOL

Beautiful pictures and blooms, Kate! Everything looks so lush. My favorite of the blooms is Stargate Portal. Sweet babies! I hope you're able to find homes for all of them.

I really like Yellow Mamouth. I mean really! Willoe Dean Smith and Garrett Mason are always lovely, aren't they? Of course, Stargate Portal is my very favorite of all except the kittens which are adorabl but White Winged Dove is a pretty one too.

Yellow Mammoth is very impressive, and I am not often a fan of yellow. Laura Harwood looks really good, and I always love Stargate Portal. The kitties are perfect!

I always love seeing Willow Dean Smith; Garrett Mason is also great, don't recall seeing it before. They are now both on my list. Bela Lugosi is such a nice, dark purple.
