Jury Duty COVID-19 style

I am part of a pilot to muddle through a criminal jury trial..one of three in our State testing the waters, can it be done safely, protocols in place and all. The biggest issue is TIME. Keeping everyone personally distanced and still do the work of court is doable but it takes much more time than the old procedures. All the cleaning between witnesses, masks on and off as lawyers approach the bench and witnesses and bathroom breaks one at a time etc. Also space, jury rooms now need to be much larger than ever before, courtrooms do not have space for a jury AND and audience so that is all done over live stream to those who wish to observe. No more pampering of juries either..no coffee/snacks/free lunch everyone is on their own. For those of us who are used to the hurry hurry get it done life style it is a challenge!! The upside is it is teaching me how to survive wearing a mask all dang day, which I will need if schools are back in session this fall and I return to work. LOL
