I don't think it matters as long as you can definitely tell they are different colors. If they are too close in shade then it might look like you were trying to match, but didn't quite make it. :-) In my daughter's room I have a shade and sheer curtains. If everything is closed then the room is really dark (great for naps and summer when she goes to bed when it's still light out). If I want just a little light, or some light with privacy, then I open the shade but leave the sheers closed. And when I want it bright, I open it all up! Works great for us. My son's room had blinds, but I replaced it with a shade. Our neighbor's son had a tragic accident because of cords from their blinds and I immediately rid my home of all cords. They even had the child safety cord winders, but he reached it somehow and figured out how to get it off. Just my two cents, since your daughter's bed will be right up against the window and she could easily stand on the bed and get to the cords.

Love the bedding and the pink accent items. The bedside lamp is super cute. Perhaps a valance or some curtain panels in a pink print like used in that toss pillow on the bed would add a nice touch to the window. Good luck finding some art work/pictures for the walls.

Oh...I LOVE the bunny/ladybug fabric!! And it has that hint of barely-there shell pink that I think is just lovely. Personally, I think red-white-black is a wee bit jarring for sleeping...I think using the ladybugs with softer colors is just more, well, custom-looking. Less like a licensed character, you know what I mean? I would paint the walls the softest of pinks...I think Farrow & Ball has one. And use that fabric for curtains and maybe some big accent pillows. I'd just do a white cotton coverlet for the day bed that you can bleach.

A 3 year old will want a different room by the time she hits 7 or 8 and so as to avoid the cost and effort of adding/removing wallpaper, I would just paint the room in her favorite color and add interest and personality with great accessories. I also find this wallpaper too large, dark and too grown up. If you are set on wallpaper, something more subtle and youthful would be easier to decorate around down the road and trust me, it will be sooner than later - as you also have to consider lots of wear and tear.
