No better tool than one of the color visualizers out there. Have you landed on a contractor yet? We use a modeling tool by Hover that is helpful in these scenarios.

With regards to the window, I like as big a section of glass as you can reasonably put in there. Make the inside feel larger.

If you don't want the bow windows, why not change them into a casement such as tilt turn casement windows, still with built-in shutters design? Tilt turn windows are with two ways of inward opening, they are energy efficient and practical. You could find out more at ChinaWDMA by searching them in Google.

The first floor windows are not suitable for shutters.

If you could add a pair of larger windows -- wider and/or taller -- upstairs, do. Make sure ALL of your windows open/close -- no "fixed" windows -- and do use at least double pane glass (your utility bill will thank you for it).

Choose windows that have storm window/ screens that that are designed and sized to be hung with them so you can open the windows with screens letting in fresh air in spring and fall and enjoy the mild weather but close the storm window glass in the cold of winter and heat of summer (your utility bill will thank you for it).

Know the window sizes you want so you could, as needed/desirable, have the framing changed while the siding is off and before new siding is added.

Would remove and not replace the shutters but do add more framing around the windows and paint them a contrasting color to the siding color you choose ... unless you're choosing all white.

If you choose all white siding and trim and portico, you could paint your front door your favorite bold color -- it really would be the focal point of the front of your house ... which should be the objective. Shades of medium/dark gray shingles would be a good roof with that look.

Use the same color you choose for your siding for your forward facing gable over your garage.

If you're not choosing white, then seriously consider choosing a darker siding color than you now have (perhaps a dark tan w/o pink or yellow hue -- a medium brown) and then use the same white you have chosen (or will choose) for your front portico/posts for your fascia and for all your window and door trim and the vent over the garage.

Whatever color you choose for your siding, you should paint the gutter downspouts in front of the exterior walls -- siding and brick -- a color that is near enough to the color of the wall behind it to help them them visually disappear.

Consider increasing the size of the concrete floor stoop (or adding an actual porch with roof) in front of the door beside the garage, then add a knee wall that can double as a seat all around it except for a 3' wide access point on the left side near the garage door. The objective is to have access to that area from the side rather than the front.

Would not paint the forward facing door beside the garage door the same color as your front door. The objective should be for that second door to visually disappear and make your front door stand out -- make your front entry be the visual focal point of the front of your home.

Essentially you'd be building a front yard patio with a knee wall mostly around it -- a wall that could be used as a seat (or a place to set flower pots or tools if you're working on some project). The knee wall would be all across the front of the patio and along part of the driveway side of the patio parallel to the driveway.

Keep the same line for the front knee wall as you have for the front exterior wall of the house.

Then the knee wall would turn at the driveway and continue toward the garage -- but you'd need an opening in the wall parallel to the driveway -- or at the end of the wall -- for ingress/egress to the patio from the driveway. Leave a four foot wide opening from patio to driveway beside the garage door or somewhere in the middle of the wall that is parallel to the driveway.
