Red raspberry plant near house foundation

I planted red respberry near my house foundation. After one year I learned about the plant. They are so invasive. the new plants are appearing totally closed with foundation wall from plant to 5 feets area.

can roots cause any foundation damage?

No to the foundation damage because they are not huge, powerful roots. However, if touching the siding, they can hold water and dirt on it for longer and eventually the paint will be stained and dirty. They need much more space than you're giving them.

for good berry production.. they should be in full sun ... so move them.. if you dont decide to be done with them ....

where you are.. might indicate when is the best time to do such ... now probably isnt ...

plants do not create foundation problems.. but they can take advantage of pre existing problems ... so if your foundation is intact.. these arent going to be a problem ...

and in fact .. they are so shallow rooted .. with a leather glove.. you could probably pull them right out ...

i agree with them being to close to the house.. for house reasons .. paint...etc ..

I have a 30' row of raspberries behind my 28' tomato row. The path between is 4' from pole to pole. Raspberries fill in with more plants every year to reduce that distance 2', so there is a narrow path between them during the height of summer. It's my only full sun large space. I don't know if there is a recommended safe distance. It's convenient because both need summer water & I have my soakers start at the raspberries then down around the corner across the path and back up the tomato row. As long as I remove old foliage from both crops and do not compost them I don't expect to have diseases. Should be workable.

Whatever you do, I hope you try and use native plants. Especiall since you are on edge of state park. Try firefush, not dwark with small leaves, but true native firebush. ideally, outside the 'drip line' which allows you to have access to the house when you need it (like to paint, or wash windows) though part of it depends on your soil, part of it depends on your foundation, and part of it on your gutter/eaves set up. I have hostas and corydalis living in the 'hell strip' under our eaves, and haven't had a water retention problem- but I also don't water them, the seem to live just fine on what splashes on to them from the walkway.

watering shouldnt be an issue, if your house was built properly. from what i remember watching Holmes on Homes, the lawn should be sloped away from the house. or a gravel trench that slopes towards a drain and directs water away from the house. a water/vapor barrier along the outside of the foundation.
