How do you clean your pebble shower floor?
Comments (8)i have a river rock pebble floor in my master shower. love it. feels so good on my feet. i used "porous plus" to seal it originally. easy to use. just wiped it on. used a sponge. let dry for 24 hrs. my grout is grey--can't remember what brand, whatever tile guy recommended but nothing special-- it darkened just a little after sealing. which made me happy because i thought it was too light to start with. it's been a year now i haven't sealed it again but i'm thinking i will. grout starting to look just a little lighter in color. the pebbles looked a little tiny bit brighter after sealing and that hasn't changed at all. i try to use non toxic cleaners--"method" brand or seventh generation or windex without ammonia in the shower and haven't had any problems. also i usually try to rinse all soap residue off the floor before i get out of the shower but that's about it. when you use porous plus, try to remember less is more. you don't need much---if floor is still wet 4 or 5 minutes after you sponge it on just wipe off excess. it will get sticky if you put too much on at once and that's what you want to avoid. very very simple though. i have never done any thing like this before. good luck...See MorePebble stone shower floor
Comments (43)I installed a sea glass tile floor in our shower like the river stone pebbles. I was told the glass wouldn't get slippery like the natural stone might get because they retain the moisture. it is very pretty, but the glass pebbles are cracking for no apparent reason and continue to crack. I am guessing it is because the room temperature is cool and when the hot water hits the shower floor the glass expands and cracks. has anyone had this problem and what are the recommendations for replacing the glass tile. it seems it would be hard to do....See MoreBest product for shower tile cleaning?
Comments (6)This is a fantastic shower/tub cleaner!... In a spray bottle mix half and half, regular strength Dawn dishwashing liquid and half Vinegar. Just spray it on.. go off and do something else for a while then come back and use whatever device you usually use when scrubbing the shower, sponge, scrubber what ever it is.....You will be amazed at how good this works, you really will. I have read where some people heat the vinegar and I did try it the first time I mixed it up, but saved the rest and used it at room temp from then on, it works just as good as heated. One thing I really love about this cleaner, except for the fact it works so good is, you can go off and do other things while it "works".. then come back even an hour later and it is still wet, it doesn't dry like the other spray cleaners do. I did buy a heavy duty spray bottle at Walmart in the section where the broom and mops are.. this bottle sprays with authority. In the past when I got busy with other things and the shower got out of hand and disgusting I would use Easy Off Oven Cleaner in the blue can. It works fantastic let me tell you... Try the vinegar/Dawn.... you will love it......See MoreBest product for routine stone cleaning
Comments (0)What's the absolute best product for routine cleaning of: 1. Polished travertine floor tiles 2. Polished granite counters 3. Honed travertine floor and shower tiles ? I've found a lot of conflicting information online. Some says to just use water, which seems insufficient to me, especially in the shower, but also in the kitchen. Also a lot of stuff I've found online is about how to do it "cheaply" which isn't really my goal. These materials are a big investment, and I'm happy to spend money to maintain them well. (The stone all came with our house, so we can't ask the installer what he/she recommends.) We have a cleaning lady, and she'll use any product and tool we ask her to (we supply it), but it does need to be simple enough that she and her helper can do it weekly. Thanks....See Morejbreder
