Back splash help in "New to me Kitchen"
Comments (22)Can you remove the short slash? Otherwise I wouldn't add a tile splash. You've got too much intruding on the available space with the short splash, microwave, and stove panel. I think the desk area would look odd tiled since it doesn't feel kitcheny. The small counter area will need to be tiled out to the edge of the wall, and I've not seen that before. You might change the hardware to ORB to give a little visual break to the cabinetry. The pendants are beautiful but the orange blends in with the orange tones of the cherry, so new pendants could work wonders. Long term I'd want to change the countertop to eliminate the orange. I only mention it because it looks like you'd only need one slab of countertop material....See MoreYikes! Cabinets not White but more cream/ivory and appliances are!

Comments (20)Thanks Crystalpea That is an interesting tile/back splash! What is it called... What is the Granite slab called? I was looking at Daltile subway tile in a biscuit color. Very simple... I don't think I can go with a big pattern as I really will not have much back splash area. Will definitely go up around window and take the corner shelfs out and paneling. Once I get the counter in than will get a better idea of back splash but it will be very simple subway or solid color no pattern......See MoreWhat would you do to these kitchen cabinets, backs splash, wood floor

Not sure what the change was in me maybe to brighten things up a bit or midlife wall paint change. I'm not good with colors and I wanted more of a gray however this gray is more of a blue it is SW reflection. I think it also makes the cabinets look more orange. Someone suggested SW agreeable gray or one that has warmer tones. I love to paint it actually relaxes me, picking out colors not so much. We are painting our ceilings white as they still have the builder paint. I read your comment to my husband and he asked how much chocolate I need. Thank you for a much needed laugh and to help with the anxiety of all these choices. Again I stink at putting everything together. I should have said that the island cabinet was used as a separation anxiety relief toy for our dog so that does need to get fixed. You are correct on the next owner thank you again for the laugh. I am torn between doing something for me for the next five years or saving for my forever home....See Morelindahambleton
