Help laying out living/dining room in small apartment?

We are moving to this new apartment next week and not sure how to place our existing furniture, what to scrap, and what new things to get. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks! Photos below:

What we already have:

What we'd like to change:

Create a dining area by buying dining table and chairs
Turn Kitchen Island into a bar - our new kitchen has counter space but doesn't fit the island
Get a TV (probably wall mounted)
Add decorative items like art, pillows, arm chair, rugs, to tie living room with dining area

Look like a heater on the left sticking out from the wall? Hang the TV over it. Place the sofa centered on the right wall. Dining area in front of kitchen hatch. Get a rug to define the sitting area. The length of the rug should be 2 feet wider than the sofa, probably 8x10

The only item that might be a problem is the kitchen island. You have a modern apartment, with fairly modern/eclectic bookcase and couch, but the kitchen island is a different style. If you have an overall eclectic style that would work, but otherwise it may need to be switched out for a more modern style.

I have about that size dining room with walkways on all sides. In my previous house, I had a 48" square dining table that I used when we moved in. I bought a 48" round table, it was amazing the difference it made. There are only 3 of us so I just keep 3 chairs around the table on a daily basis. You could do a drop leaf. I am not sure it you could find one in a style that would go with your house. I have 2 drop leafs that I use around the house and bring out when I need more tables for company but they are both Duncan Phyfe antiques. Another option would be a round with a leaf or two that expands for family. You'll be amazed how a round fits the space better. Something about cutting off those sharp corners make it easier to maneuver through the rooms.

I haven't any feedback for your LR question, but I wonder how much you are wedded to the 1/2 bath. I know most people would not agree with me, but I personally would rather have a shorter, clearer shot to the kitchen and to A bathroom from the garage, by making a separate entrance through the half bath, and adding another door from it into the one main bathroom. Or if two toilets are considered mandatory, I would rather think of a way to incorporate another bath upstairs to serve as an emergency bathroom which then would function for the upstairs area. The way you have it, to haul groceries or anything from the garage one has to go clear through the living room and all the way around. And coming home needing to go to the bathroom, the same. Also, for safety reasons, I would rather have exit doors in different areas. Sorry, hope you don't offense since a critique of your plan is not what you are asking!

Yes, 65" is the diagonal measurement. The actual end to end measurement of the tv is 57.5 inches. The wall that it is hanging on is 7'4" wide. Thanks! That is Hank. He is a rescue that I have had since March.

jck910’s layout sounds right. Sofa on long wall with tv across from it, wall mounted over heater or whatever that is. If you‘d like, you could use a floating console/shelf.

great sectional, love the color. for a dining area, you may want to consider banquette seating right under the hatch with a round table and a couple extra chairs, something like this.
