I'd be willing to bet that this is a cactus. I have a crown of thorns and other Euphorbias and this doesn't look ANYTHING like them. It was sold as a cactus back when I bought it (but I've lost the name tag long ago.) The needles grow in clusters (about an inch between each cluster) of 3 or more. If I'd never topped it, it would be over 14 feet tall now. I would take a pic of it, but I have an indoor jungle and it's back in a far corner where I can't get a good shot of it. I have plants growing in about every window and, in my southern facing windows (where this cactus is at) the plants are three pots deep from the window. In this same window I have two hibiscus trees(and more as bushes), an Oleander and a citrus tree all growing taller than me, as well as smaller bananas, a jasmine bush and an Australian Bluebell bush (and many smaller plants.) I have another room that's half filled with plants. It won't be until later Spring when I can put most of these other plants outside that I can get a good photo shot of it. Thanks!

Beautiful! And funny, though, I have trouble getting those suckers to root, apparently. Stanley's little cutting from that gorgeous plant right up there^ initially rooted fine, and then dropped its roots some time after, and I noticed with some delay, resulting in my having to cut off a little rot because I'd watered while assuming the roots were present. Now the cutting's even smaller, lol, and heck if I have the biggest trouble getting it to re-root in the last few months. It sure better do it, is all I gotta say. I don't see specimens like that around here!

I don't know if I right, I sure would like to know I grow Epi. a few but have not specialized in this species. That is the only way to learn about them, that plant is telling you something. Have you watered it when it is dry or any differently then the others, is this the resting season? My Epi most always set flowers in March or May, flowers for mothers day. Some day I'll tell you the story why I remember this. I would not move the plant once it sets flower buds. WE have this plant at the Huntington Gardens in the growing area. Did read that the flowers dry up and turn black before they open, and are these recently started cuttings, have they established roots? Some one here will come up with the answer, and if I can find my article on the subject it just may give us a clue. Norma PS just found it. It is 8 pages long. 1-Its a cereus. its old enough to be nearly self-sufficent. 2-ditch the clay pot. Get a slightly(only slightly) bigger plastic pot, with lots of holes in it. 3- your new soil should consist of 30-40% cocopeat(coir +peat), a lot of grit, and pebbles, mixed with perlite, pumice, or zeolite cat litter if you cannot find any of the above. Make sure it looks coarse,and well draining. 4- after repot, place in a dark area , dont water for 2 weeks. 5=-gradually move to a lighter area, and leave it there. Its hardy to -10C", so leaving it oustide in the winter if you live in a temperate climate is a no. Make sure you leave it somewhere bright, or back where it w was( it doesnt have signs of improper growth due to lack of light in its most recent growth, so where it is , its doing good. 6-give it a small amount of water weekly, twice a month in the winter.
