Need help with entry door design dilemma
Comments (8)Thanks Patricia. FYI This is not a new build and nothing is ideal...Garage faces the street and the front door originally faced the backyard! We're moving front door to side and put in a walkway from drive parking area to entry door. We will also have an arbor/fence between driveway and entry door to further define. The difference with 1 and 3 are the grills. I do like the full glass options and the more modern look of 1 (have seen this grill mix successfully done on other homes) but wonder if its right for this house. The inside of the house is more modern than traditional - vaulted ceilings, beams, minimal moldings, some shiplap. My last house was over 100 years old so it was a no brainer for style. This one is alittle trickier....See MoreNarrow Entryway Design Help!
Comments (14)Looks like an expenzive rug why not hang it on the wall and get a plain one that can handle the traffic . It is such a formal space I cannot imagine coat hooks there for sure . Do you have a coat closet nearby? I do not think a 10" deep shelf will work maybe a tiny little wall mounted dshelf for keys . The new light should be fabulous in that space so do that first then see what else you need maybe even a linear style light .The cutout above the door is a bit unesccessary isn't it , I find it takes away from any of the fixtures you could choose....See MoreNeed help with front entry door design
Comments (7)Would you consider a faux window on the exterior to balance the entry? A reflective surface or better, a strongly frosted glass could be used in the side panels, the faux side would obscure the interior and the non faux panel would afford privacy but yet the exterior would appear balanced. A bit out of the box, but faux areas have been used for eternity in housing…ie hidden doors for the servants!...See MoreHelp Me Re-Design My Entryway
Comments (4)IMO leave it save up and do all the same flooring everywhere it looks like the sales outlet store right now. Is the front door your style ? Does it suit the house . Many things need to be considered before beginning to add decor .This a new to you house so maybe just take some time to really figure out what you want to do with the whole house , the entry is the introduction to your home so needs to be well thought out . Is this the only entry the family uses? Since you do not have space for a closet you need to be diligent about stuff not left in the entry ....See MoreRelated Professionals
