Thank you all--thank you, needanap, for the threads--I did an Advantium search and read till my eyes crossed but there was so much I guess I didn't get to those. Alku, I think I want/need (which? LOL) a WD because the other ovens will be in use for other things, and also I don't want to use an oven with a cooling fan just to keep things warm. THe noise on my current ovens drives me nuts. Very good point on heating up the interior of the Advantium... I am sort of thinking that the Adv. sounds way cool and I would like my second oven to be smaller anyway. I very rarely need two full size ovens. If I get this combo and decide after a while that we REALLY need a regular micro then I could always get a small inexpensive one. I am trying to leave a couple of potential nooks for one just in case. Raynag--good luck!! I went and saw some Monogram ovens in person today and they sure are pretty.

From all we have seen, at least here in GW, the Bosch has a much better reliability record that does the KA. Maybe the new KA's are better, but many of us folks here are turned off by the way KA Addressed the problem, and as far As I know, KA still denies there was ever a problem with self cleaning the oven, unlike Elux, that did have a few problems in 2010 but so have all the others. The Elux problem was no where near the magnitude of KA), but they admitted it and addressed the problem (Except) I would have liked to seen them pay the whole $300 for the replacement of the reset button on one that was 13 months old, instead of just paying $100, but that is still better than most companies do, with few exceptions. In your case, since you are buying a single oven, your chances for oven failure after self cleaning is probably unlikely with any of the 3 ovens your are considering, but due to the above, and many positive posts about the Bosch Ovens I would lean that way, but myself, having owned an Elux Icon Oven for more than 5 years, and loving it (trouble free and quiet), I would buy one again in a hearbeat!! Measure the distance from the bottom of the cabinet doors above your current double oven to the top of the cabinet drawer face below. This height is the max amout you have without having to modify visible cabinetry. Of the ovens + convection microwaves you're considering, add the overall height of the oven and the height of the microwave trim kit together to get your minimum combination height. Make sure this is less than the cabinet measurement from above. My installer will build a base between the two units so the convection microwave can sit on a shelf. If he can make the top of the oven and bottom of the microwave trim kit touch, he will do so. Otherwise a stainless filler may need to be installed between them. If this combo you decide on is shorter than your current double oven cutout, he will build a new base below the oven and then cover the gap with a piece of stainless steel, either flat or 3-dimensional depending on what the customer wants. You can get this type of filler from a local fabricator, or if you have a good installer they will have it made for you. Keep in mind you also need a 110v electric outlet for the convection microwave as it can not run off of the 220v supply for the oven. Ovens I like: Capital, Dacor, Wolf, Miele, Thermador, KitchenAid, Viking, Bosch. As I've said before, the perfect combo IMO is the Dacor MOV130S and Sharp AX-1200K + RK12S30 trim kit

Hi there, although I don't post often on these forums I've been a member a while and read a lot. I haven't been able to find this addressed anywhere (pardon me if it is out there and I missed it). Our 1988 GE 27" double wall oven needs replacing (top oven broke - been using just the bottom a while but with the holidays coming I think we need more than that). We are a family of 4 and eat essentially all meals at home; I love to cook and bake. I probably would've been perfectly happy to pick a comparable GE and call it a day, but instead I look all around and start considering Bosch and Electrolux (my budget is under $3000, husband would prefer under $2500). So I start to wonder... Can I tell a difference of .4 cubic feet in capacity? Will I notice the difference in how many watts the broiler element is? Which of these will be harder or more $$$ to service? I definitely thought the Electrolux on display was the "sexy" oven; the Bosch seemed sleek but with more "muscle". But is it worth it to spend more $$$ or will they all serve my cooking needs just fine? Will I kick myself everytime I wrestle with a rack if I don't go with the Elux? The more I looked, the more it started to seem that the biggest issue with double wall oven is often just what I already had happen - one breaks and you have to replace both. So my ultimate question: Can you replace a double wall oven with two single wall ovens? And how easily? (never had a wall oven until moving in to this house so don't know much about the details on installation and whatnot). Knowing we are not remodeling the kitchen right now (maybe in 8-12 years), how feasible is this? Would it require too much extra work such that it might be cost-prohibitive? I'm not sure, but figure some sort of extra support might need to be going on and that you can't necessarily just stack one right on top of the other. Would this ultimately be the better way to go if possible? Anyone have anything helpful they might offer? Thanks in advance.
