Pull the faucets and hit the holes with a Bernz-O-Matic please. The marks may evaporate. If not you'll need to research a poultice. If they disappear, hit the holes and adjacent stone with Tenax Pro Seal.

A permanent fix is replacing the sink with a sink with a faucet deck. Now your dripping hands, soap, and hard water are landing on stainless steel or composite instead of delicate stone:

why not sealed? you can do a penetrating sealer that does NOT alter the color or the finish.

i believe that's your issue. the granite is absorbing water. do a non-enhancing sealer and you'll be fine.

Thanks Joseph for the ideas. This is in a bathroom and it's not sufficient to justify pulling out a sink but certainly if we replace the kitchen we'll take your advice on having a deck, which makes good sense.

Thanks Beth. The problem with the pics is that the marking doesn't show up (not that the pics don't load). Unless you see a large amount of it from standing back you wouldn't notice it.

We got a lot of variable advice on sealing when we were considering this leathered finish on this particular granite. The general consensus was that it's one of the most non-porous varieties, and that sealing it would head us back towards a shiny finish, which is not what we wanted. At the start we pooled water on it for over 30mins with no apparent absorption, and in general it wipes up really well. It may be that this marking is down to soap rather than water, but it's hard to tell.

If there's such a product that seals without changing the appearance I think we'd go with it. Do you have any specific recommendations?

Thanks Beth. Reading more into it I think it's more likely from the soap esp if it had some oils in it (which is quite likely). I saw a couple of simple tips that I can try. I also have the sink cutouts so will test those out for the more 'risky' treatment options and sealer
