I completely agree with lynninnm and les. I hate overhead bedroom light fixtures and any place we have lived I have immediately replaced the ceiling light, if there was one, with a fan (with no lights). We use the fan year-round. Ceiling lights, no matter the wattage, are cold and harsh and you need additional lamps in the room anyway. We have night table lamps which are similar to the size we have on living room end tables and a floor lamp in the sitting area of the MBR. Warm lighting is so much nicer than a cold overhead light, imo, so enjoy sleeping with a fan and scrap the ceiling fixture.

I replaced a ceiling fan with a chandelier in my guest room and still wanted guests to have the option of a fan. It took me over a year to locate it, but this is a Casablanca fan that works like a dream, doesn't make much noise, and is very heavy. They make other models, more contemporary.

So much great info, and things I would have never considered. leafy-Thanks for the input...I loved our fan w/lights in our old bedroom, but we had 10 ft ceilings and maybe that extra 2 feet helped. I will take your situation into consideration. stlouie-oooh, that is pretty and sleek and not to obtrusive looking! Iw ill research that a little more. Thanks! writers-I remember you...I think you live near me...I am in Plantation Acres. that fan looks like a MUST HAVE for hurricane season. I am not familiar w/that at all, so thanks for sharing. And good point about the fan and the air going to the edges of the room, I would have never thought of that. thanks vampire...I am going to consider white and also a brown to match the floor. I can not even consider NOT running the A/C during spring/summer. BUT...I try mybest to avoid the heater during the winter, I hate that dry heat...ugh. So you must feel that way about the fale coolness of the A/C.

I'd keep sepia [?] going, and not add black, the darker option, cause to me it competes with it, and sorta squashes its softness.
