hallway lighting.
I am trying to figure out the best way to light up this space. I would like to replace the chandelier but I’m not sure what would be the best to replace it with. There is no light going towards the door l except for a battery operated motion light so it’s fairly dark. Our ceiling is concrete and there is a beam which makes it difficult to run additional electric wires down the hall.
Any ideas?

Might put one of those tap lights on the wall in that corner. Paid a lot more than Amazon, oh well! Probably ended up being cheaper than me buying another light and paying them labor to install it (based on the fact that I paid $93 to replace the dining room small chandelier we found at the habitat ReStore). I will probably change out the switch to a dimmer because the light doesn't always need to be so bright :). He also did the two lights over the fireplace and at the front door. those have dimmers (the old kind), and so far they are working. Need to research to see if they need to be changed to LED-type dimmers or not. I plan on buying more to put in all the can lights in the LR and kitchen (8 lights). Comments (2)I think you could put something larger-format and more of a statement at the top of the stairs and do something more lower profile down the hall. As long as they have the same "feeling," it's okay for them to be different sizes and shapes. This may also help disguise that they're offset, which you as the homeowner will be more conscious of than anyone else who enters your home. For example, if you wanted to add a crystal chandelier at the top of the stairs, add a flush-mount version down the hall. Comments (1)9 ft is not a tall ceiling, its pretty standard. All those crystals will A cut the actual light down and B cause shadows, so if you have a dark hallway I would pick functional lights over pretty lights....See Moreeverdebz

3 years agobut a semi flush wont clear it either, and will still have issue with the cabinet door swing.
BUT i did just think of something, you could simply swag it over the beam to the other side and hang it on a hook, use plastic mold cord cover to hide the wire, and paint it out the wall color.
