Repairing broken Fiddle Leaf Fig stem?

Grace Martinez

Hi everyone, I ordered my first-ever Fiddle Leaf Fig in the mail recently since plant nurseries are not open in my area due to COVID. It came in a fairly battered box and it definitely suffered some abuse on the way to me.

One of the leaves arrived mostly detached from the stem, pictured below. I did a little research and learned that sometimes plant stems are able to heal themselves back together, so I set up a makeshift splint using a popsicle stick and Scotch blue painters tape (I don't have any electrical tape on-hand).

Does anyone have any experience with this? Anything I should order online for a proper remedy? Is all hope lost for this leaf?

Really appreciate any advice!
