as long as your bed is centered on the long wall, the fan is fine centered... with the room only 14' wide, the fan will be practically directly over the bed! if you weren't planning to center the bed, i would have the fan centered on the 14' length, but centered on the bed on the 24' length. our bedroom is ~ 19x23...our bed is centered on the 23' wall and the ceiling fan is centered in the ceiling. the fan is directly over the cedar chest at the foot of the bed- i wouldn't want it ANY FURTHER AWAY because i really do like the breeze when i sleep...as it is, i need it turned up fairly high(on 4-5 out of 6 speeds) during the warmer months. (if the fan were directly over the foot of the bed, it would be alittle better.)

My SIL and daughter have one of his grandmothers in their breakfast room. The piece was stripped and has a lovely patina. Not sure of the wood. UPDATE: Oh wait, scratch what I said. Hi everyone! Thank you so much again for your help and guidance. I thought I should pop in here for a quick update (I just hate when people post a question and never update their resolution!). It took almost 2 years but I'm finally at a good place with the bedroom decor. We ended up putting the bed up against the window because of symmetry and it also opened up a big space at the foot of the bed where we can play with our dog. We also ended up with a queen bed instead of a king. We don't mind the bed in front of the window at all. The bed has a wire headframe and barely blocks the light. We just need to hang some pictures or paintings and I think I can call the bedroom done! Thank you again for all of your wonderful suggestions and advice!

Definitely no room to angle in a cabinet and we're about 2 feet short to move the bed to any other wall. The shoe cabinet could go into a closet and even though it would take up floor space, we could fit more shoes in there that way. The large art piece has lived above the bed in another house and looks great but we were planning on hanging sconces above the bed and that would result in the canvas hanging too high. Will probably take them back- the bedside tables we're going to order are 24" wide so have room for table lamps. I think I'll move the smaller chest where everyone advises but it creates a new issue- too much wall space with just the chest and chair. I suppose I could put a small round table next to it? I have a lovely painting that has always loved above my dresser but would have looked terrible with the two chests together. The cats are going to be crushed after we've unpacked. They're loving all the boxes!
