Who will use this space. Is it in a basement? Is it one or two rooms? All the lighting needs to be changed. It is insufficient and dated. The picture over the sofa needs to hang 5" above it, but looks a little small to me. It may do better 5" above the bed. I think the windows need fiber shades rather than sheers. A rug under the bed could add cozy warmth and color. Here's a great coffee table if it isn't too big or too pricey for you. Colorful pillows and some with texture can warm things up a bit on the sofa.

I don’t think the cool gray accent wall goes with the warm straw/greige color on the other walls. I would paint them all the same (lighter) color considering it’s a small space and a basement.

You could put a slim bench at the foot of the bed.

If you need items like a coffee table on a budget, I recommend Ikea. Their stuff is stylish and budget-friendly.

In the yellow room....

I would put significant-looking bedside tables. These ones are low, and you can’t really see them.

Are you able to get a new light fixture? Or is it a rental so you can’t? On a budget, I would simply paint the wood frame white.

The bedside tables should have lamps on them. Or, the person on the right facing the bed, could have a table lamp, and the one on the left a floor lamp. This would put something taller in the corner. I got a $10 floor lamp at the thrift store. It’s cheaply made, but has no dings or blemishes. As it turns out, I love the quality of light it puts out.

One thing I notice.... All your furnishings are rectangles, box-shaped. And the rooms would be better with a lot more color, It ends up stark and angular. Think round to make it cozier. Plump cushions. Bright colors.

You could try a DIY headboard by removing your old one and adding framed wallpaper to your wall. Add lots of pillow, maybe some rugs and second hand lamps. Have fun with it!

Yes, it’s the master, is Not a rental but this is the space that I have for my room and small living room.
The bed frame doesn’t work with the new mattress, thats why we have to change.
I love IKEA, we bought the sofa and the tv stand there.
I thought the same about the walls, It didn’t look that beige when I bought it 😖

The best way to cozy up a bedroom is by layering the bedding and an inexpensive wall decor are baskets. Your room’s wall color is similar to below and could feel very similar with your new grey headboard

In regards to living room, a rectangle may work best and consider buying second hand - I’ve found great pieces on Facebook’s Marketplace - see table below for example and it’s price. Wood tends to provide a warmer feel and once accessorized, even more so

I would lower your art and add more cushions

You could add a large plant by the window and if budget allowed, rattan blinds in both rooms would be nice addition.
