It depends on lifestyle. But certainly that setup could make it easy for company to use the facility. Also makes it easy for you to use it, when you're out enjoying the patio. Also, if someone had a hot tub in bathroom, off of patio - very convenient. I personally like that setup. But if you don’t see any use for it, and have never used the door, it is not a useful feature for you. But it definitely is a useful feature - and would be utilized by others.

So it’s a matter of how long you plan to keep the house, and how much you want to invest in altering that, etc., etc.

It also would be handy to shower off after working in the garden.

For most circumstances, I would say wall it in. Assuming you have a first floor powder room, guests would prefer to use that than use your private master bath. It feels very awkward.

Unless you have a personal situation where you bathe dogs or kids, again....wall it in. Most buyers are going to think it feels awkward.

If it were the master bedroom that had a door to the deck, that is another thing. The bath, I say "no".

Do you garden, have a pool or hot tub, entertain outside a lot? If so, access might be important. Do you plan to sell in the next 5 years? If any of those apply, leave it. If this is your forever home do what makes you happy if it doesn't break the bank. If this is a windowless bathroom, consider a window there with frosted glass; natural light & privacy.

I always prefer to use a powder room instead of a master bath when I am a guest. I also prefer to keep my master bath private. In our previous home we had a door to the backyard, but we only used it for the two of us, after yard work to avoid tracking grass through the house. You don’t use the door, you don’t feel comfortable with it, and you have valuable floor space to gain if you close it up. It won’t affect resale but a beautiful, newly reconfigured master bath can be a real asset in resale. Keep in mind, buyers aren’t living in your house today. “Make yourself at home” is more than a greeting for guests. It should be your philosophy about your life.

When I was 21 I lived by myself. One night I was inside my home, in bed asleep when I heard noises at my front door. I walked out of the bedroom and could tell someone was screwing around with my front door knob. I had no other egress door. I called 911, grabbed my .30-06, turned on the lights and positioned myself in a corner with the gun pointed at the door. The lights didn't deter the invader. They didn't care that I was home or wanted me to be at home. They took off when they saw the lights of the police car pull up to the front of my house. When the officer came to the door it popped open and the officer saw me still hunkered in the corner. The guy breaking in had jimmied the lock and was seconds from being inside my home.

As you may guess, my vote would be to keep the door.

Wall your side in, outside stays intact. When it comes time to sell, new owners have option to remodel it back.

Seeing your master bath.... it looks small. You need every inch. Master baths and kitchens sell houses. I also think that most people will think it odd to have a door off master bath.

It’s about 10x10 but it’s laid out very poorly in my opinion. My husband says it’d be too challenging to relocate all the plumbing with a slab house
