Are you open to changes in the plan (essentially starting over)?

I am completely open to changes on the exterior- not sure what you mean by starting over

Changes in the floor plan. Changes there would impact the exterior.

Consider for example, you have only 3 small windows on the south side of the house.

Do you understand why I would point that out (nothing to do with the way the house looks)?

I know nothing about the occupants, and little about the building site, but if you brought this plan to me, I'd suggest starting over, because I see too many issues to be able to fix this plan.

Does the south side of the house enjoy lake views? If so, I would want to orient the main living areas to utilize the southern sun exposure, which is ideal. I would also want to minimize windows on the west facing side because of the harsh summer heat.

Unfortunately, I don't think B&B siding is best suited for this style house. Horizontal lap siding would be most cohesive to the overall look and style.

Lastly, the master closet needs at least 7'6" of width to have two runs of hanging space.

I've moved your spaces around to give you an idea of how I might try to resolve the issues -- still much work to be done.

House becomes roughly T shaped, or maybe L shaped with private spaces to the north and public spaces to the south. Views remain the same.

The view is 100% on the east side of the house. Thus the windows, deck etc. There is no view on the south side, some trees and such.

on the north side we have a neighbor and the west side is the only access to the property and thus where the front door must be. The road dead ends at our home so the need for curb appeal is really just for us and our guests. There are only 3 other neighbors who would even drive by the view side of the house. The property has a pretty big slope so to avoid 20foot foundation walls etc we are trying to keep it as narrow as possible as far as how deep the house runs. We are at or near to the maximum width already. Along the west side(front) we are trying to avoid a massive 60ft foundation run because of expense and we are told it will be more stable by the geotechnical engineer

I realize a 4’11” x 14’ closet is not everyone’s cup of tea but it works for us Anyways thanks for the input. I’d really like suggestions for siding on the exterior.

My personal view is that your color scheme is incongruous with the surroundings. I would stick with one type of siding, probably lap 6” wide, or shingle, but not board and batten. I think homes look best when they harmonize and “fit” their environs, especially a lake house. I guess the black windows have been ordered? Rather than white trim (which tends to look quite harsh) I’d go with a soft or off-white/cream.
