Can I see photos of your teen son's bedroom
Comments (15)Before I show you my sons past and current bedrooms (one when he was a teen, and his new room that he really had nothing to do with because he left for college a few days before we moved into the house) I wanted to give you an idea. Go to an antiques/junk store and look for old golf clubs to decorate with. This golf club belonged to a family member and I have it mounted over a print the 18th hole of our local country club. You can find prints of other golf clubs (as suggested before). Augusta National comes to mind. OK, here is my sons room from the old house. He was age 14-18 in that house. He also wasn't a sport fan, but did collect ship paraphernalia (flags, cruise ship models, paddles) and Texaco trucks and planes. He also wanted to be an architect, so I mounted our house plans on his wall. He really just had a mixed bag of stuff he liked. I just used a few of his items in the current bedroom. My son took the flags to college. The walls were so plain that I added very simple B&W photos of him along with friends and family. I was trying to pull the green color from his bathroom into the bedroom. We still have the ships, trucks and planes, but didn't display them all. The blueprints and ship posters remained. As did the paddles. Touches of green. to match the bath....See MoreMy 6 YO daughter vs. My husband...she's winning
Comments (63)Demon Based on what you've said here, I think you've made the right decision. It concerns me that his reaction is to blame the child and focus on how it affects 'him'. Classic abuser behavior. I'm even a little concerned that his reaction will change from cooperative to hostile when he realizes that tactic won't work. If I were you, I'd set up a strong support system. I have a feeling you are going to need it. I also agree with silver, it's not a waste of time to learn such a valuable lesson. When I left my ex at 29, I spent years feeling sorry for myself because I wasted my 20's in a crappy situation. But, the worse part wasn't the time I wasted, it was that my kids were in that crappy situation for 7 years and you can thank your lucky stars you figured it out in less than a year. Your daughter is young and you can spend some time in counseling and might even think about working on your parenting skills too. Before, you said you were lax in discipline, so now might be a good time to shift your focus on improving things in your life. When I was a single parent, I was also too lax and inconsistent. It's so easy to parent out of guilt too. My kids were pre-teens when I began to force myself to be consistent and push the guilt to the back of my head and it's been tough. I still struggle with guilt because they know how to make me feel guilty. Good luck....See MoreHelp with color for teen girls bedroom
Comments (13)My daughter recently re-did her bedroom with similar white-painted furniture (CL finds in 50's French Provincial and Hollywood Regency) and choosing the wall color was definitely an exercise! She initially started by fairly bright colors like most of the posters above have suggested. But then we did some computer research. We pulled images off the internet of rooms she loved, then sorted through them discussing what it was about each one that appealed to her. It turned out that ALL of the rooms she responded to had white walls (like your photo of the bedding.) So we got a stack of Ben moore whites and off-whites, and she chose a beautiful white with just a touch of cool pink to it. it basically rads as white, but not quite so stark. The white walls have allowed the accessories and wall decorations -in darker colors- to be the stars. That may not be the look your daughter's going for, but it might help to pull photos of rooms she likes off the web as inspiration, anyway....See MorePre-teen bedroom help
Comments (13)ideefixe thank you for steering me to Delias.com. DD loved the "Starstruck" set. She has decided on turquoise/agua paint and if she really wants the whole room that color, I can live with it. But I'm still going to try for one wall and the rest a lighter shade. Anyways, the only problem. Everything in the set is sold out! It won't be available till Feb for most things. If they don't charge your account till then, I'm okay... but I can't pay for it now and not get it till then. X-mas is right around the corner and if the set doesn't come till Feb - it'll be a b-day present. Now, I'm on the look out for lighting. I really want something like returnqueen has in her DD's room. Actually that would be perfect. I think my Lowes/Home Depot has one. Maybe she can get that now. Thanks for the help girls Here is a link that might be useful: Starstruck...See Moredenkyem
