Kitchen Remodel Finally Complete....Before and After
Comments (55)Quick update... I ended up ordering a spoon and fork from Target.com. Here's a pic of it installed on the back wall. Also finished up installing my DIY under cabinet lighting... these lights are bright!!!! So glad I used a dimmer switch...this is the dimming level I tend to keep it at. Also forgot to mention that one of the pantries is a broom closet. After living in my new kitchen for almost of month now, I feel like I got everything right and did the best I could with the space I have. Trash cabinet, baking tray cabinet, broom closet, sink drop down tray, spice rack, plus all of the additional cabinet space makes me one happy camper. :) My only regret is not putting in pull outs for my pots/pans and lids. It's a bit of a pain having to bend down and look back into the cabinet to find what I'm looking for. Maybe at a later time... since it's still possible. Another thing I'm finding an issue with is our fridge. We bought a counter depth so we could have additional room, but it's been tough living with the limited space. Luckily, we still have our old fridge, so we're thinking of keeping it now to store larger items....See MoreBefore and After From Family Room to Dining Room TO KITCHEN
Comments (49)Okay - a few wanted a few more pics of our remodel - and if you'd like to give suggestions I would love them! The plaid chairs is where the kitchen use to be - post hasn't been trimmed out yet (it's a weight bearing). The family room use to be a finished wood shop. Since it was attached to our home - it was a no-brianer to make use of the finished square footage. Now - my dilemma. The colors don't match. Does the striped wall go with the kitchen (paint color: revere pewter). I would love these three areas (sitting area- plaid chairs, kitchen and family room) to look great together since they are adjoining. Sorry this is turned on it side - can't get fixed. Room is large and couch is unfortunately needs to stay - it's new. Wall art - needs to be fixed :( this was the wood shop - turned into family room...See MoreElements that now make a kitchen look "dated"?
Comments (102)I had not seen the earlier thread with the comments that you are referencing, so I had no idea that there might be more to this I offered suggestions of what might be dated, but I clearly was not judging as I said one or two of those dated items are things I chose to utilize because they work for me. I certainly would not join in on a bashing thread, as I had a minor taste of that when I showed my remodeled kitchen. Overwhelmingly the comments were very kind and while not everyone needs to praise, there was one poster who was extremely negative and continued on that path. OTher posters called him out but he continued, and I too could not stay silent. I just found it very hurtful so I just want to be clear that I had none of that intention I really just took this as a discussion. This thread, in and of itself, I thought was really innocuous....See MoreBefore and After Kitchen 1988 to 2020
Comments (20)Sammy, good question! The wood needed to be replaced where the peninsula had been removed. My hubby sanded the new pieces down to the thickness needed, installed them and then finished it them with poly. He used a satin poly which wasn't quite shiny enough so used a buffer to make it a perfect match!...See MoreKathleen
