FNM - MUSIC MEMORIES OR FAVOURITES (Part 2)

maddiemo

This one always reminds me of one of my best friends because she went to see INXS live at Wembley and pushed to the front. She has glazed over many times reminiscing about Michael Hutchins, his iconic black n white trousers, and her inability to recover from the experience of seeing him in them.

A new favourite. I love the melody, video, and end refrain of ‘Keep your little soul on fire’.

I have all kinds of music related memories. From all the good times at the San Francisco/Bay Area scene in the sixties from listening to not yet famous bands on Hippy Hill and going to the Avalon, Winterland, The Fillmore , The Carousel and outdoor music festivals to having to leave covered with mud in the middle of a sprint car race because DH scored front seat tix to The Highwaymen with no time to go home and change. LOL So many memories with bittersweet teary eyes of old lovers and old friends. Memories that make me laugh out lot related to silly antics at country bars and a night spent people watching in a bar in Hawaii. I could post dozens. But today I choose this one.

Well, I hate to be a party pooper but this is always the song that brings back an entire sweep of time in my life. I am not being ironic about current events

That’s a great track barncatz! Stirred memories for me too. It got a lot of airtime in our house.

This one reminds me of a group of friends I had a lot of fun with in my late teens.

I like the dance moves in this one, from the 1950s:

Everyone sitting in long lines on the floor pretending to row a boat was mandatory for this one.

Lurker, your maths is pretty good:)

In 1979 I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras during the police strike and went to the Superdome to see KC and the Sunshine Band

In addition to KC, there was also Doug Kershaw, who attracted a completely difference crowd, and it was very tense during this concert.

Favourite improvement on an original (which was Adina Howard 1995)

In the wee hours in Waikiki having just escaped a trio of tourist preying thugs I took refuge in a bar with a band sitting at a table with full view of the room and a nice man joined me. As I sipped my club soda with lime we chatted covering subjects from the intellectual to the mundane. As the night wore on we chuckled at the hook-ups going on as closing time neared.

He pointed at one gal and said she's hoping to be the "queen of the silver dollar". He was rather impressed when I responded with, the next line, "and she rules this smoky kingdom". We continued to exchange the lines and amused ourselves making pointless bets on which gals would be taking who home with them. It;s still a great memory. Just siting with an intelligent guy who wasn't trying to hit on me chatting and having fun as equals.

This was one of my favorites back in the 70's. Seems fitting for today.

One of my favourite new artists (albeit I’m usually a bit late to the party)

(If you’re not keen on bad language, might be advised not to listen)
